Country fans never know what to expect when they sit down in front of the TV with their bowl of popcorn and glass of Diet Pepsi to watch the CMA Awards show. But again this year, we are getting the entertainment line up a little bit at a time. And as always, when I hear something new – I’ll send it out your direction.
Just found out today that Tim McGraw is now scheduled to perform on this year’s show, which airs on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 8 p.m. on ABC. This will be the first time in four years that Tim has performed at the show. I think I’m more excited about the release of his movie, “Blindside” with Sandra Bullock, that is scheduled to release on Nov. 20. That just looks like a great movie, regardless of who is in it. (If you haven’t seen the movie trailer yet, click here).
Back to the awards show. Vince Gill will be performing, and he is going to do a duet with the rock band Daughtry. I’m not really a Chris Daughtry fan. I guess he’s good at what he does. I know most of the world loved him when he was a contestant on American Idol, but I just don’t really enjoy rock music. Still, I think this will prove to be a very interesting duet.
We also have Jason Aldean, Billy Currington, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert and Zac Brown Band on the list of performers. Not a name in that group I don’t like. Those were all announced yesterday.
Also scheduled for this years show, and announced earlier, are Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Reba McEntire, Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker, George Strait, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban.
There are so many great new country artists right now – I can think of about a hundred more I’d like to see on that show this year, but I know it’s only a 3 hour telecast. But, I wouldn’t mind seeing Jason Michael Carroll, Bucky Covington, Chris Young, Mallary Hope, Easton Corbin, Jake Owen, Luke Bryan, Chuck Wicks, Julianne Hough, Kellie Pickler, Whitney Duncan … Oh, there are so many. and, not all new guys either. But maybe between now and the actual awards show they will add some people like Trace Adkins, Alan Jackson, Rascal Flatts and Martina McBride.
All I know for sure is that it’s an award show, it’s country, and I’m definitely ready for it. And, of course I have a little video from a past CMA Award show. This one was back in 2006, and is Martina McBride singing “Anyway,” one of my favorite Martina songs. Where does the time go! I just can’t believe that it was three years ago that this was Martina’s new song. But whenever it was – I still like it.
I’ll talk to you all later. Have a great Friday! Hope you have a good weekend, too!
