I would imagine most country music fans spent last night sitting in front of their television. I know I did. I also joined the ladies from Country Music Tattle Tale in an online chat throughout the show. That was really fun! Thanks to Country Girl and Tawny for doing that. We had quite a crowd in the chat room, discussing what we did and didn’t like about the show, and what we did and didn’t expect.
Just in case you missed it, here’s a recap of the winners. I loved that Lady Antebellum won Single of the Year; was a little surprised that Jamey Johnson won Song of the Year for “In Color” … I mean, I thought that was one of the nominations LAST year.
Was also happy to see Lady Antebellum get recognized as Vocal group of the year. I know this is an award Rascal Flatts has taken home for a while. And while I love Rascal Flatts, I think Lady Antebellum was very deserving of the award.
Best New Artist want to Darius Rucker. I definitely saw that one coming. He’s had a pretty amazing year. Naomi and Wynonna Judd presented that award. (I’ll be on The Santa Train with Wynonna on Nov. 21 – so get ready for pictures and a story about that trip.)
Album of the Year went to Taylor Swift, Fearless; and Vocal Duo of the Year went to Sugarland.
Kenny Chesney took home the award for Male Vocalist of the Year, and Taylor Swift won the Female Vocalist of the Year Award. And, the Entertainer of the Year Award, also presented to Taylor Swift.
Martina McBride was on hand to help honor Barbara Mandrell. She sang "I was Country When Country Wasn’t Cool,” with a little help from George Strait.
Here’s a few pictures from last night’s show and on the Red Carpet before the show began.
That’s all for this morning. I have to go to work. But I’ll talk to you all soon. Let me know what you thought of the award show last night. There are a lot of very different opinions out there. All in all – I loved the performances, loved most of the dresses, and definitely don’t agree with every choice for the winners … but it was still a good show.
Later!
