Joey & Rory were nominated for Vocal Duo of the year at Wednesday night’s Country Music Association awards. I didn’t think they’d win, but it sure was great seeing them in the company of country greats – Sugarland, Brooks and Dunn, Big and Rich, and Montgomery Gentry. That is a very impressive group to be a part of. (Photo at left by Ed Rode)
I have been a fan of this duo since I first heard them sing on CMT’s Can You Duet. I stayed a fan when a lot of country radio stations wouldn’t play their first single, “Cheater, Cheater”, and I’m still a fan, even though a lot of radio stations wouldn’t play “Play the Song.” And I can only imagine I will remain a fan through their Overstock commercials, and their Parkay commercials, and when they release a new single, I’ll be right there ready to hear it.
So one can only assume from all this that I’m a pretty big fan of Joey & Rory. But I know a bigger fan. Her name is Becca, and she’s e-mailed me from time to time, to let me know what this great duo is up to. Her most recent e-mail was to let me know about a new fan site. A site for Joey & Rory. A site that she has put together. And it’s a great web site. For Becca’s first attempt at designing a web page, she did a super job! I couldn’t just go look at it and not pass the link on to you.
This fan site is dedicated to Country Music duo, Joey + Rory. Their true country sound, traditional values, and obvious love for one another make this married singer/songwriter duo a rare find in today’s Country Music. Their talent and down to earth personalities appeal to fans across a spectrum of ages, from young to old. But mostly it’s their music we love. As a result of their appearances on CMT’s reality program, "Can You Duet," their first CD, "The Life of a Song" debuted at #10 on the Billboard charts . Songs like their upbeat hit, "Cheater, Cheater" resonate with Country Music lovers as much as the heart wrenching "To Say Goodbye." Joey and Rory’s music and story touch fans on an personal level rarely found in Country Music these days. They take us home with them every time they take the stage.
If you haven’t heard about the duo’s new Christmas single and Merry Christmas CD, she has information on that, as well as show dates, news articles, videos, and just about anything else their fans will want to know.
There are photos form Marcy Jo’s Mealhouse, and links to news articles and blog postings about the guys, too. I just watched the Overstock.com commercial with Rufus in it. How cute is that.
These two are going to be in Ireland and Scotland from Nov. 17-20. Then they have shows listed for Oklahoma, Wisconsin, California … be sure to visit this great site to see where they will be next.
Becca’s new fan site for Joey & Rory is easy to navigate, and is full of interesting information about this great duo.
Since I’m such a huge fan of Joey & Rory, you’ve got to know I’m going to put a video up here for everyone this morning. Any of you who watch Can You Duet will recognize this clip. It’s Joey & Rory’s audition for the show.
If anyone else out there has a fan site that you have created for your favorite country entertainer, let me know. I’d love to check it out and get something up here for you, too!
It’s Friday! I’ve got to get ready for work… for the last day this week! You guys have a great day, and write when you have a chance. I really love hearing from all of you!
