I have just had what is probably going to be the most memorable day of my entire life. It was also the most exhausting, and without a doubt, the most rewarding. Those of you who have been reading Country’s Chatter for a while know I spend the day on The Santa Train. I’ve been talking about it for the past week, and really looking forward to it. Today was the day.
I’m not going to say much about it right now, because I really need to get some sleep. But I will be getting some articles up, and even a video (perhaps more than one). But I do have to get some sleep first. After the day I’ve had, I can now say there is only one thing I will get out of bed at 4:00 a.m. to do … and that is to ride The Santa Train.
Since I’m not awake enough to get much up here tonight, I do need to send out a huge thank you to CSX Railroad, Food City, Kids Wish Network, The Kingsport Tennessee Chamber of Commerce, and the hundreds of volunteers who worked so hard to distribute more than 15 tons of toys to thousands of children along the tracks from Shelby, Ky., to Kingsport, Tenn.
And I definitely can’t stop without thanking Wynonna for being such a great celebrity guest on this year’s train. She worked hard all day, throwing gifts out to the waiting hands of children. She wanted to help, and she enjoyed what she was doing. Wynonna was also very nice to the people on the train, the media and the volunteers. And at the end of this exhausting day, she shook as many hands, signed as many autographs, and stopped for as many photos as time would allow.
Wynonna said she would like to do this again – Wy, so would I. So I hope to see you on another trip on The Santa Train.
Now, I really am sorry – but that’s about all I can do for tonight. I’ll talk to you all real soon! Videos and more photos of today’s Santa Train run through Appalachia will be along soon.
