I love receiving press releases. One reason is because I know I’m getting all the information right, another is because I love being able to pass on these great articles to you guys, and of course if it’s an event or something, they always send a photo or two. Here’s the press release I received recently, It’s about Taylor Swift, and it’s about her album, “Fearless,” and it shouldn’t really surprise any of us that this album is breaking all kinds of records in country music.
Taylor Swift’s six-times-Platinum Fearless album was officially recognized as the Most Awarded Album in the History of Country Music at a private dinner in Nashville.
Fearless is the only album in history to win the all-genre Album of The Year Grammy, plus Country Album of the Year Awards from the Grammy, the Country Music Association, the Academy of Country Music and the American Music Awards.
Representatives from NARAS, The American Music Awards, The Country Music Association, and the Academy of Country Music all joined Big Machine Records Group President/CEO Scott Borchetta for an unprecedented group presentation honoring Taylor for her achievement.
Fearless, released in 2008, has won every album award in the country music genre, and was named all-genre Album of the Year at the 2010 Grammy Awards. Taylor, who turned 20 in December, was the youngest artist in history to win the music industry’s coveted top prize and she is also the award’s first-ever solo female country winner, and the first solo female winner in more than a decade. Taylor wrote or co-wrote every song on Fearless.
“We tend to always look forward when it comes to Taylor, but tonight it was time to stop for a moment and look back on one of the most successful music works of all time,” said Scott Borchetta of the historic evening. “The 18 months of our lives known as the ‘Fearless’ era have been history-making, euphoric and triumphant. The sales, the airplay, the accolades and the awards have all just been incredible. But, most important to me is that my friend Taylor and her collective team of family, record label, management and her road family continue to raise the bar with work ethic, achievement and enjoyment. Dreams do come true.”
That’s all for right now. I’ll talk to you before the day is over. But this is the first day of Spring, and we’re supposed to have a day of sunshine and near 70 degree temperatures. I’m ready for it. Time for figure out what I’m going to do with my day! Catch you guys later!
Country

I am really surprised when I read these articles when they refer to Taylor Swift as a country artist. The girl cannot sing-at least not in tune-her songs do not sound country and she remixes her songs to pop. She is more a Disney singer than she is a country singer. Country singers would be Faith Hill, Martina McBride-to name a few. To put Taylor in that catagory is really an insult to the ladies of country. She has not brought in new fans to country because of the remixing-they are also not buying country CD’s. Please-spend more time on singers who can actually sing-us country music fans would appreciate it.
I agree that Taylor is a pop artist. I never did consider her country.
However, when I receive a press release that says she is “Breaking records in country music,” it appears some fans and people in the industry do consider her a country singer.
There are many country artists that you will now hear on pop radio, including Faith Hill, Carrie Underwood, Lonestar, and a lot of others.
I agree with you that Taylor is not country enough to have won Top Female Country Artist last year, and she definitely does not have the vocals to begin to compete with Carrie, Martina, or LeeAnn Womack.
With all that said, I am not going to ignore her here on Country’s Chatter, I know she has a lot of fans, and they are interested in what she’s doing. A press release such as the one above was worthy of repeating.
At the same time, I’m not going to put up every little thing the girl does.
Thanks for reading Country’s Chatter, and thank you so much for your comment. It was very much appreciated.
