It’s almost June, and everyone in Northeast Tennessee and southwest Virginia knows what that means. It means we get a family movie every Thursday night, outside, under the stars, next to the lake, on a huge inflatable screen. The Johnson City Parks & Rec, along with our friends at WXBQ join with other sponsors to make this possible every year.
For any of you who have never gone out and enjoyed these Thursday night movies, I hope you will all plan to take in a movie or two this year. You are going to be so surprised when you find out how great this event is — and you can go every Thursday night in June!
Before the first movie starts, WXBQ will have them listed on their web site so we can all plan ahead of time and pick out what we want to go see. There are games, and deejays and lots of food available at the park. Or, you can pack your own meal and bring it with you.
All you need to do is show up! Games start around 7 p.m., the movie starts at dusk, and the evening ends around 11 p.m. You can bring lawn chairs, blankets, whatever you’re comfortable sitting on, and enjoy the movie with your family and friends.
So get ready for this year’s Lakeside Cinema. Here’s some photos from the event in previous years.
That’s it for tonight – Keep your Thursday nights open in June! And I’ll see you at the movies!
Talk to you in the morning!
