I love Matt Stillwell. I think I’ve told you all that before. I get to see Matt from time to time, he’s pretty much a regular at Capone’s in Johnson City, Tenn. He’s got a great band, and he puts on a great show.
WXBQ radio plays Matt a lot – but it’s usually “Shine,” the song we all think of when we think of Matt. That was a great song, but I hope radio will soon listen to some of the other songs Matt has put out there. They’re really good. I love his”Shine” CD, and if you don’t have your copy yet, you should. The songs on it are Whiskey Well, Go Away, Moment of Weakness, Sweet Sun Angel, Dam This Rain (one of my very favorites), I Keep thinking About You (another one I love), Shine (of course), Somewhere Between Me and You (which I thought was single material), Oh My Sweet Carolina, and Dirt Road Dancing … which we have the video for.
Those of you who have been reading Country’s Chatter for a long time know that Matt was one of the artists who made the trip to Erwin to be a part of our Concert for a Cure for the American Cancer Society. That was last May. Matt, along with Randy Houser, put on a great show for us here in Erwin. And helped us raise much needed funds for our local Relay For Life teams and the American Cancer Society.
Matt is going to be at The Orange Peel in Asheville, N.C. on Saturday night, May 29. Tickets for that show are available by visiting their site, here. If you can’t get to The Orange Peel, be sure to check out Matt’s schedule on his web site. He has dates up through Aug. 21, pretty much everywhere in the southeast (Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee).
Here’s what Matt said about the video on his web site: “We shot the video in Live Oak, FL at the Suwanee River Music Park. I wanted do a little something different with the video this time around. So we decided to dress up and get to dancing! I’ve got my brother in the video and my little friends Summer and JR as well. There is a big appearance made by the Dancing Outlaw himself; Jesco White. I hope you like it!!!”
I can’t speak for everyone, Matt – but I like it! Ok everyone, if you haven’t seen it yet, here it is.
By the way, when you visit his web site, listen to “Drunk Enough,” on his home page. He has really got some great music out there. It’s a good video, and I’m sure we’ll be seeing this one on CMT and GAC.
I better get moving here. I have a lot to do today, and then — the 3 day weekend starts. hope all of you have a fun-filled Memorial Day weekend. Remember to thank a veteran. And then, go out and enjoy your holiday picnics. I my be putting a few things on hold for a day or two, but I’ll get to your e-mail just as quick as I can!
Later,
Country

I love love Matt! He is not only a great artist but an amazing friend and just all around good guy. I hope one day he makes it very big but I will continue to keep playing Matty Stillwell EVERY chance I get!
Hey Autumn,
I appreciate your comment, and I couldn’t agree more. I think Matt’s really a great entertainer. You’re in the right business to help keep his music in front of country music fans! I agree, he’s a great guy, too. But, Autumn, you are the first person I ever heard call him “Matty”. Talk to you soon!
