Around here we have a few choices for July 3 – one, of course is the Independence Day Fireworks celebration in Johnson City, Tenn, at Freedom Hall. Every year they put on a great fireworks display and you don’t have to wait until dark to stat enjoying the event. There’s the WXBQ Rabbit to keep us all entertained.
Live music starts early, you can bring a lawn chair, blanket, picnic dinner, whatever you feel like packing – and head out early, and just enjoy the day. If you don’t want to carry your own food, you[‘ll find plenty available to purchase there.
This year’s entertainment will include Brinley Addington, Linda Davis, and Jessica Nixon Band. Brinley is from Kingsport, Tenn., I’ve seen him several times, and the kid definitely knows how to put on a show! Linda Davis you might remember from her duet with Reba McEntire – “Does He Love You.” And Jessica Nixon, a former Miss Tennessee contestant, has been doing a lot of entertaining in the area the past few years.
If you want to go a little farther away on July 3, you can head down to Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and there you’ll find a parade, fireworks, Steve Azar, and Diamond Rio. In fact, seven musical groups will be performing during this year’s Patriot Festival at Pigeon Forge.
July 4 is also the day for Unicoi, Tennessee to host their annual Freedom Fest. They have several musical groups performing, including Adam Larkey and his band, and Blue Mother Tupelo – a band from Mississippi, who has also appeared in Nashville.
And if you live in New York, Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, or any of the other large cities in the U.S., I don’t have to tell you where to find fireworks. And, of course — if you just want to stay home on July 4 — eat your barbecue, hamburgers, hot dogs, and then turn on the television …
NBC will again be broadcasting Macy’s annual 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular. And of course they don’t just have fireworks, they have entertainment, too. And part of that entertainment this year will include LeAnn Rimes, Mirah Carey, Justin Bieber, Enrique Iglesias and others will also be part of that evening
I’m sure you can find more televised fireworks displays, too. Since I plan on being in Johnson City on the 3rd of July, I can spend my 4th inside, with my television set – enjoying as many fireworks shows as I can find. Starting with Macy’s on NBC.
Talk to you all soon – we’re nearly through our work week! More later!
