I got a message on Twitter yesterday morning, it simply said. “@countryschatter what are the chances of you doing a write up on @ChristianKane01 the house rules video debut. mgr is @BrandXmgmt.” My answer to TweebaKane, the chances are very good.
Until I got that Tweet yesterday, I had no idea who Christian Kane was. So I did a little looking around, and found out that if I had been watching CMT this weekend, instead of spending the entire weekend at our local Apple Festival, I might have found out that he had his debut video premiered on CMT during the new music weekend, Oct. 1-3. If you missed it too, you can see it here.
I really hate to compare artists, but when I listened to this song, the first thing that came to mind was– if you like Jason Aldean, you are going to like Christian Kane. If you stand the two side by side, they don’t even slightly resemble each other – however, when you listen to “The House Rules,” you might for at least a minute think you’re listening to Jason Aldean, and when you get to the part where he sings “welcome to my house, buckle up tight, everybody sings and drinks…” you might think you’re listening to part of “She’s Country” that you somehow missed the other times you heard the song. The second time I heard the song, there were parts where he reminded me a little of Randy Houser, too.
His bio lists his hometown as Dallas, Texas, Norman, Okla., but he resides in Los Angeles and Nashville. His birthday is June 27, he got his education at the University of Oklahoma, and he has one sister, Jennifer. His hobbies include cooking, and of course singing and songwriting.
And if you think he looks more than a little bit familiar, that could be because you’ve seen him on television. Christian is also an actor. You can find out more about that by clicking here. If you watch the TNT series “Leverage,” you’ve seen Christian. He’s one of the shows stars, and plays the role of Elliott Spencer.
When I go to find out about an artist who is new to me, I always hit YouTube. When I searched out Christian, I didn’t have to listen to many songs before I picked a favorite – It’s “Thinking Of You.” I guess I like the slower ones that remind me more of country than they do of rock music. And “Thinking of You” does.
When I got done watching clips from YouTube, I decided to put this one up for all of you, because it has a lot of great photos of Christian in it. I think you’ll enjoy looking at them. You’ll also have a chance to decide if he should go long hair, or short hair. The song is called “All I Did Was Love Her.” And, I really like it.
It’s Monday, time to head off to the office. I hope all of you had a really fun weekend. We have definitely got Fall in the air this morning! Remember to drop me a line when you get a chance. It’s always great hearing from you guys.
I’ll talk to you real soon,
Country

Thanks a tonne for taking the recommendation of a Kaniac and checking out Christian. His a fantastic back catalogue of music, movies and TV. Not to mention a heart of gold. That was a great read so thanks again for adding him to your ‘chatter’. We know everyone who checks him out will take something away from his tunes.

Oh, hey,I made that video of All I did was love her (among others ;)). And P.S.: You spelled ‘Eliot’ wrong :)Just FYI, but don’t worry, that’s a common mistake 🙂

Thank you so much for answering TweebaKane’s request. Christian’s music is awesome. Keep listening you won’t be disappointed at all!
Great article on Christian. I am so glad you have discovered what many of us have known for years, that he is a very talented artist. I hope your readers will take the time and listen to his music as well. He works really hard and is very appreciative of his fans, just as we are of him. Thanks again for sharing Christian Kane with your readers.
I loved to learn about your way of exploring him and his work.
I quite like the rock influence though. My first favorite song was “Oklahoma State of Mind”, but over the years I don’t have a favorite title anymore: So many great songs. Something’s gotta give, Let’s take a drive, All I did was love her, Blaze … just to name a few.
Thank you for taking the time to discover Christian’s (and Kane’s) music and doing this write up.
Thinking of you is my favourite as well, it’s special and does remind me of the songs on their first album (2000). BTW House Rules is also pretty early, they’ve been playing it since, at least, 2006.
Oh and IDK if you’ve seen these three live songs performed during Chris’ and Steve Carlson’s tour of England in 2007:

They are some of my favourite Kane vids on YouTube.
Thanks again.
I’m so glad that TweebaKane helped you discover Christian Kane. And I hope your article helps other people discover him too. He’s such a talented artist! TY for the great write-up on him. 🙂
What a great article! So glad you took the advice. Christian is a great musician, actor and person. Everyone keep following him and his music…you won’t be disappointed!
Thanks for the great write up. I loved hearing about your research methodology, probably because it’s close to my own. (: My family thinks I’ve become obsessive about Kane because I’ve been using him as a sort of test subject for internet research. I was never so involved in “social networking” ’til I met the Kaniacs! I’ve joined YouTube, Twitter, actually started using my dusty old Facebook account and just joined the new Official Kane Online Community. Even if I didn’t know firsthand what a great actor and singer he was, I’d still assume he must be pretty awesome just judging by his fans! #Kaniacs Rule!
Oh, and if he reminds you of Houser and others, it’s because they’ve been hanging out together in Nashville the past six years or so. Before that he lived in LA, but played Country music. That’s why a lot of his songs have a rockin’ edge, to keep the audiences’ attention. If you like the slower stuff, may I recommend “Don’t Come Home.” It shows off his great vocals, is well produced and both the lyrics and simply the tone make you feel the heartbreak. P.S. Play it loud and clear enough to hear the soft heartbreak, but be forewarned that there’s a brief soulful outburst of deep pain as well.
