It’s not even Halloween, and already local stores and malls are getting ready for Christmas. I’ve seen trees, ornaments, and even Christmas cards and gift warp hitting the aisles of our local department stores.
I love Christmas, and I really don’t mind planning for it early, so I’m not really complaining. It’s more like ‘looking forward to another holiday season.”
Sometime around the first of November, I’m ready to take my holiday CDs to the office. We have so many, and we listen to them for six or seven weeks before Christmas. This year, I’ll have a new holiday album to take with me. I plan on being right near the front of the line when Lady Antebellum’s “A Merry Little Christmas “ goes on sale next Tuesday (Oct. 12), exclusively at Target.
"We recorded all of this in July," Haywood tells Billboard.com, "so it was a little bit peculiar being in the studio in the middle of July in Nashville, Tenn., 100 degrees outside, sweating, and doing a Christmas record. But we had a great time doing it. We had the studio all decorated…We brought everything we had from our houses and decorated and tried to get into the spirit. It was a fun experience."
In addition to a few Christmas classics, this six-song EP will have one new song, “On This Winter’s Night.” Dave Haywood told Billboard.com that he and his bandmates, Hillary Scott and Charles Kelley, “Tried to take some of our Christmas memories, and some of the things we remember from the holiday season, and put them into a song. It was definitely a new experience for us; we’d never written a Christmas song, really, before. But it was a lot of fun trying to look at what we do and how we spend the holidays and take that feeling and put it into a song."
Dave, Hillary and Charles are busy touring, and you can check out their schedule here. They seem to have tickets available for just about every stop on the tour. And, they’ve got David Nail at most of those shows, too. I wouldn’t wait too long to get a ticket if they are going to be anywhere near you!
Going to leave you with Lady’ A’s Webisode Wednesday-Episode 125, from Wednesday, Sept. 28. 2010. I watched, and I decided… Dave Haywood would be a fun person to go out on tour with. Nice Red, Dave.
I’ll talk to you all soon – drop me a note when you have a chance, and remember, you have until next Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, to get your entry in to win a copy of Toby Keith’s new CD. Click here for full details.
