I received an email yesterday. It had a picture of Frankie Ballard, and a quote. It was Frankie’s thoughts on Valentine’s Day. I think Frankie and I are on the same page with this one. I wasn’t going to let this one get to the ’trash bin’ without putting it up here for all of you.
Valentine’s Day isn’t really an important holiday for me. I don’t get to stay home from work, and I’m not a big ‘send me flowers’ kind of person. My husband and I did go out for dinner on Friday night (a few days early, but it was our valentine dinner),
Yesterday I drove to Bristol, Va., to take Valentine candy to my favorite deejays at WXBQ – that would be ALL of the deejays at WXBQ. And of course the WXBQ Rabbit got candy, too. I also got a new refrigerator. That didn’t actually have anything to do with the fact that Monday is Valentine’s Day – I just needed a new refrigerator.
Now, back to Frankie Ballard, (the “Tell Me You Get Lonely,” singer). Here’s is what he had this to say about Valentine’s Day:
"I don’t care much for Valentine’s Day… can I just make a donation to Hallmark or something? Does that get me off the hook?"
– Frankie Ballard
It’s a funny quote, Frankie. However, I’d like to make a suggestion. If you aren’t a card-sending kind of guy, and you really would like to make a donation – Hallmark doesn’t need your money. But I know an organization that does. Why not write that check to the American Cancer Society, and send it off in honor of someone you care about. I’ve always been a big supporter of the ACS, and … well, it was just a though.
I’ll end this short post by wishing you all a very Happy Valentine’s Day. Whether you celebrated already, or are planning on celebrating on Monday, I hope you enjoy your holiday.
More later!
