I tried to think of a way to start this article. Something clever like a good reason why I’ve never written about Randy Montana before. But, I don’t have a good reason. I’ve been a Randy fan since I heard his first song, on the radio, close to a year ago. And all I can do at this point is apologize for never getting anything up here. I hear all of you Randy Montana fans. Sometimes it just takes me a while, but I get it done.
I’m sure I mentioned that Randy had one of the songs on the Sweet Home Alabama: The Country Music Tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd. Randy sang the song, “Tuesday’s Gone.” If you don’t remember that one, it’s one of Lynyrd’s slower songs, and Randy definitely did it justice.
His first single, "Ain’t Much Left of Lovin’ You," hit radio back in March 2010 – our local station is still playing it. I think this song was a great debut for Randy. It’s not polished, not what you could expect from a Kenny Chesney or a Brad Paisley. But it’s good. For a debut single, it’s something Randy can definitely be proud of. And I am glad that our radio station is still playing it. I’m going to put the video here for you before I go on to tell you about his new single.
Now Randy has released “Thousand Faces,” to country radio. I just watched the video again. I like this kid. I like the way he sings, I like the way he looks, and he definitely seems to have a little bit of “actor” in him. Like "Ain’t Much Left of Lovin’ You," I hope this is one they continue to play on the radio – for a long time.
Randy was born in Albany, N.Y., and moved to Nashville when he was in his teens. His dad, singer-songwriter Billy Montana, has written No. 1 hits for Garth Brooks, Jo Dee Messina and Sara Evans.
“Thousand Faces” is one of the songs he sang when he was touring with Sugarland and Little Big Town. That’s a great way for thousands and thousands of people to hear your music before it ever hits the radio. I’m sure everyone who saw him touring is ready for some new Randy on the radio.
That’s all for this morning. I’m off to the office. I hoe you all have a great day! Drop me a line when you get a minute!
