Some day, I am going to make it to this event. But it’s not going to be this year. I already have a show to attend in Parkersburg, W.Va., on June 4. Since Parkersburg , W.Va., and Pottsville, Tenn., are a little too far apart for me to attempt an event in both of those towns on the same date 2011 Bib & Buckle Fest isn’t going to work for me.
Joey + Rory caught my attention when they were contestants on “Can You Duet.” I guess that’s when most of us became familiar with these two. I for one love their music. And I’m still trying to figure out why we don’t hear them on the radio. They are so country, and they are so darned good. They are everything I miss about classic country music.
Joey+Rory have set Saturday, June 4, 2011 as the date for their “3rd Annual Bib & Buckle Fest” Homecoming Concert, Food & Fun event. What started as a casual gathering of fans and friends for an afternoon of music and frivolity has turned into a full day of activities that includes a canoe float, games, karaoke, and of course, lots of music from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the field behind their farmhouse in Pottsville, Tennessee.
The festivities begin at 10:00 a.m. with a five-mile canoe float down the Duck River. A limited number of canoes are available at River Rats Canoe Rental in Columbia, TN, so interested participants are encouraged to reserve a canoe early. Gates to the farm will open at 1:00 p.m., and volleyball, horseshoes, cornhole toss and kids’ fun and games will run until 3:00 p.m. Have a favorite Joey+Rory song you like to sing? Karaoke will begin on the stage at 3:00 p.m. Joey+Rory will be signing autographs and taking pictures in the merchandise booth from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.
“Each year we put on the festival, it grows and becomes even more fun than the last”, says Joey. Rory adds, “we travel, play shows, and meet fans all year long in their communities around the country. This is a chance for fans to come and be part of ours”.
Live music begins at 4:00 p.m., when Joey and Rory’s daughter Heidi Feek takes the stage to perform original songs. At 4:45 p.m., Rory will join three other hit songwriter friends for a traditional “in-the-round,” performing and sharing stories behind hit songs they’ve written. Raffle and other prizes will be given away from sponsors such as Roper, Silpada and others at 6:00 p.m., and Joey+Rory will take the stage for an intimate performance with their band at 6:30 p.m.
A mobile diner will be on site offering simple hamburger and hot dog fare at old-time prices, and Marcy Jo’s Mealhouse, which is owned by Joey (and Rory’s sister Marcy), will be offering homemade desserts. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, sunscreen and anything else necessary to enjoy a fun-filled day in the sun.
Fans are also strongly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance. Due to the limited size of the parking area and lawn-chair seating in the field, a maximum of 1,500 tickets will be available. When that number of tickets is sold no more will be available online or at the gate.
Advance tickets are $20.00 for adults and $10.00 for kids under 12. They can be purchased online here or at Marcy Jo’s Mealhouse, 4205 Highway 431 Columbia, TN. The phone number is (931) 380-0968. Tickets will be available at the gate, unless the event is sold out, for $25.00 for adults and $15.00 for kids under 12 for cash only.

If any of you make it to this year’s event, I hope you’ll be willing to share pictures with me. I’ll try to get this in my plans for 2011. At some point, I’m going to make this trip!
Hoe you all have a great Monday/
