The closer we get to March, the more excited I was getting about a show at Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Greeneville, Tenn. I have tickets! Very good tickets! Tickets for seats practically on the stage! The artists I was going to see – none other than Steel Magnolia. I’ve been a fan of Meghan and Josh since I first saw them on CMT’s “Can You Duet.”
I have seen the kids before, when the did a show at the Greene County Fair, also in Greeneville, Tenn., a few years ago. I loved their show! So much energy, great harmony, a little comedy between the artists. Just a well thought-out, and very well performed, entertaining show. You can read that show review here.
Well, all that changed today, when I received an e-mail today from Niswonger Performing Arts Center. It said “For Immediate Release,” so I’m releasing it. Here is what the e-mail said:
Darrell Bryan, Executive Director of the Niswonger Performing Arts Center, announced this morning that the concert of Steel Magnolia set for March 24 at NPAC has been cancelled. “It is our understanding,” said Bryan, “that the duo is no longer performing together.”
“We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause our patrons,” concluded Bryan.
There was more – but that was the important part. The show I’ve been waiting for isn’t going to happen. To make matters worse, @steelmagnolia11 is not tweeting, their last tweet was sent out a week ago. There are only two shows listed on their tour schedule, and that page starts out with “Event schedule, times and lineup tentative and subject to change without notice.”
Apparently there are a lot of rumors going around about this awesome duo, and none of the rumors I’ve heard so far are good. So what’s going on? Are Josh and Meghan still a duo? Are Josh and Meghan still a couple? Are Josh and Meghan still with Big Machine Records? I think it’s time we hear from Steel Magnolia, or from their label. Let the fans know what’s going on with these two great kids, who also happen to be great entertainers. Let’s have a press release from someone who knows – and put an end to the rumors.
More later!

I wish Steel Magnolia the best. Hope they get their problems sorted out and their career back on track. I think Meghan did at least one (or more?) concert(s) with her friend and fellow country artist James Otto substituting for Josh while he was in rehab. Something like that?
Regan,
Thanks for your comment. I know Meghan had James Otto join her when Steel Magnolia was on tour with Reba. And, I know she did a few shows on her own as well. But I thought I had read that Josh was back with her for the shows. Then I got the word that the one I was looking forward to was canceled. I still have no official word from either Steel Magnolia or their label, but I’m hoping when we do hear something it will be very positive. They’re a very talented duo, and I wish the best for both of them.
Please tell me what is going on with Steel Magnolia. I love this duet. Saw them at Tangiers in Akron, Ohio, and watched them win on Can U Duet. Last I heard was they got engaged. We, the fans, deserve to know what’s going on with this awesome singing couple.
Hi Judy,
As far as I know, Josh and Meghan are no longer a couple, or singing partners. They have been dropped by their record label, Big Machine Records – and that’s all I know right now.
They were a great act, love Meghan’s voice. And she and Josh definitely worked well together. I don’t know what happened. We all know Josh was in rehab for drugs and alcohol – all of his fans appreciated the fact that he told us, and that he was open about all of it.
As for their future in recording or concerts, I wish I knew. But as for now, all I know is that they are not together, either as a couple or a singing duo.
