Do you remember the first Colt Ford song you ever heard? For me, it was “Ride Through the Country.” And, my first thought was ‘what in the heck is that?’ But, everyone is entitled to an initial reaction – and everyone is also entitled to rethink that first impression.
It was a while after hearing “Ride Through the Country” that I first saw Colt Ford on stage, and when I did, I came away with a whole new perspective about what this man is capable of. He has a way of entertaining that definitely puts him in a class all his own. His live show is literally a production you can’t help but love. And, it was after the second time I got to see him perform live that I started to wait (almost anxiously) to see what Colt was going to give us next.
Tomorrow – we get our ‘next’. Colt’s fourth CD will be released on Tuesday, Aug, 7. The title, “Declaration of Independence”. Here is what (and who) you will find on Colt’s new album:
1. Answer to No One (feat. JJ Lawhorn)
2. Drivin’ Around Song (feat. Jason Aldean)
3. All In (feat. Kix Brooks)
4. Ain’t Out of the Woods Yet (feat. Montgomery Gentry)
5. Lucky (feat. Jonathan Singleton)
6. Back (with Jake Owen)
7. Dancin’ While Intoxicated (DWI) [feat. LoCash Cowboys & Redneck Social Club]
8. It’s All (feat. Jeffrey Steele)
9. Hugh Damn Right (feat. Laura Bell Bundy)
10. Room At the Bar (feat. Corey Smith)
11. All of My Tomorrows (feat. Russell Dickerson)
12. Happy in Hell (feat. Wanya Morris)
13. 50/50
14. Way Too Early (feat. Darius Rucker)
15. Angels & Demons (feat. Lamar Williams Jr.)
I haven’t had a chance to listen to the new album yet. I have heard “Back” (with Jake Owen), and I’m really looking forward to hearing “Dancin’ While Intoxicated,” because I absolutely love LoCash Cowboys. As you can see form the list above, he’s got quite a diversified group of people on this CD. And I don’t doubt that every song will meet my expectations of “entertaining.” Colt has me convinced that if there is anything he is super good at, it is keeping his fans entertained.
One thing Colt Ford definitely is, is country. He may be presenting his music a little differently that most country music fans are used to – but give it time, you’ll be like me … you’ll be rethinking your first impression, too. I thing the song ‘Back’ is great. Love the entire message, and it goes without saying – I also love Jake Owen!
Back in a bit!
