Did you see Scotty McCreery on American Idol on Thursday, April 4? If you did, you got to hear Scotty sing his new single, “See You Tonight.” If you didn’t, you get to see that performance here.
I like Scotty. Enjoyed all of his music when he was a contestant on American Idol, and like all American Idol/Scotty fans, I’ve been following his career since he was named the winner. I don’t mind telling you, I wasn’t thrilled with “I Love You This Big,” and “The Trouble With Girls” isn’t one of my favorites either. I started paying more attention to Scotty when “Water Tower Town” hit local radio. Now, I will be the first one to tell you that I believe “See You Tonight” is probably the best one he’s put out so far.
Here’s the video of the April 4 American Idol performance. I like that it goes back to Scotty’s first audition, and takes us from that audition, through the season finale’, and right up to his receiving the ACM New Artist of the Year award. The Idol staff put together a good little history of Scotty’s career to this point.
Scotty told us that he is heading out on his first headlining tour, and if you want to find out when he will be near you, just check out the “Events” page on his web site. From what I’ve seen of his television appearances, he has learned a lot since he first stepped out on the American Idol stage. He seems to really know how to sing to his audience now, and pull them into his performance. I’ve never had the pleasure of seeing him on stage – other than on television – but I’m sure it would be a good show.
I know we are nowhere near Christmas, but I’d like to share another video with you. This one was shown at our church this year, when we were getting our shoeboxes packed for Operation Christmas Child. I was so pleased to see that this is a charity Scotty has been working with since he was a child. This video says a lot about who Scotty is, and how he believes.
In addition to his web site, I hope you are following him on Twitter – you can do that @ScottyMcCreery.
I will be back with more soon. Hope everyone is having a great Friday evening!
