Our little Town of Erwin, Tenn., has seen its share of Nashville artists. Entertainers who have put shows on here include Sawyer Brown, Randy Houser, Matt Stillwell, Ricochet, Rhonda Vincent, and Ty Herndon. On Saturday, March 29, we got to add another singer to that list, when Kristina Craig entertained the crowd that gathered at UCHS.
The event was being hosted by our County Road Superintendent, Terry Haynes, who brought Kristina to Erwin as a way to say ‘thank you’ to the residents for allowing him to serve them for the past 16 years. The Unicoi County High School Bluegrass Band opened the show for Kristina and her band.
Everyone in this area is familiar with the kids in our high school Bluegrass Band. This very talented group will be traveling to Louisiana next week, where they were invited to perform for the National School Board Association.
While Kristina Craig is mostly noted as a country/Christian artist, her show included covers of hits made famous by Barbara Mandrell, Patsy Cline, Little Big Town, and even The Pointer Sisters.
Erwin was one of the stops on The Kristina Craig Band’s “Small Town America Tour”. She will be performing at churches and local events throughout the country. (If your church is interested in having Kristina perform in your area, please call 308-650-1437).
In addition to Kristina’s web site, be sure to visit her Facebook page, and follow her on Twitter @Kristina_Craig.
Here are a few more photos from Saturday night’s show. We’ll include some of the Bluegrass Band, and some of the very talented members of The Kristina Craig Band – They are Donna Barker, bass guitar & harmony vocals; Greg Giovannetti, drums; Michael Hall, keyboard and rhythm guitar; and Jim Phiffer, lead and rhythm guitar
Thanks to The Kristina Craig Band for coming out to Erwin. Thanks, as always, to the Unicoi County High School Bluegrass Band, who always puts on a great show. And, thank you, Terry Haynes, for making all of this possible for the residents of Unicoi County.
Back with more soon!
