Saturday didn’t get off to a great start. Northeast Tennessee had dark clouds, heat, humidity and a downpour or two. But Mother Nature was on our side by the time Saturday evening rolled around. The rain stopped, the temperatures dropped a little, and the evening was perfect for the 2nd annual Hometown Throwdown in Kingsport, Tenn. This event was put together by country artist Brinley Addington. It is more than a musical event for the community, it is also a fundraiser for a wonderful organization, Children’s Miracle Network.
This year, Brinley brought Collin Raye to town to be part of this great event. This post will be about Brinley’s time on stage – the next one to go up will tell you about Collin Raye, and include photos from his show last night.
In addition to performances from Brinley and Collin, Rusty Clark, another local singer, was on hand to open up the show. Rusty did a short acoustic set for the audience.
Brinley is now a Nashville resident, but comes back to Kingsport whenever he can. He brought a little news with him this time, announcing to the crowd that his sophomore album is nearing completion, and should be released early in August. Along with that new album, titled “Middle of Nowhere”, the title track will be shipped to radio. We will definitely have more up on that as the date gets closer, and ask all of you to give a listen, and call your favorite country radio station to request the new single.
Below are more photos from Brinley’s show, sound check, and with fans after the show. Of course we’ll include a photo or two of our famous WXBQ Rabbit. WXBQ was the media sponsor for the event. I do need to remind the folks in this area that if they weren’t able to get to Brinley’s show last night, he will be at the Pepsi Independence Day Fireworks at Freedom Hall, Johnson City, Tenn., on July 4.
I can’t end this one without thanking Brinley, and all the great sponsors who helped make this event happen. I think everyone who attended is already looking forward to next year, and the 3rd annual Brinley Addington Hometown Throwdown.
In addition to Brinley’s web site, you can all follow him on Twitter @brinley_. Hope you are following Country’s Chatter on Twitter, too. We’d love to have you! You will find us @countryschatter.
Back with more about this event, and a write-up and photos of Collin Raye, soon!
