It’s been a long time since I’ve written about Craig Moritz. In fact, the last article I had up was January, 23, 2010. I was so impressed with him, I just had to share what I knew about him at that time. [You can read that article by clicking here]. Ever since then, I’ve been following him on Twitter and Facebook, waiting for his career to take off. I just don’t know why it hasn’t.
Today, Craig posted video on his Facebook page. The song is called “If I Were a Pirate”. The song is really good. I didn’t need to listen to much of it to remember why I fell in love with this kid and his music. He might be from Canada, but he has more country music in him that most of the singers we hear on today’s ‘top 40 country radio stations’. He just keeps getting better. I love the sound of older country music, and that’s the sound we get from Craig.
It’s not like Craig isn’t keeping busy. He lists some of his career highlights on his web site page. Here are a few of them:
- Selected for a prestigious new artist showcase by the Canadian Country Music Association in 2004.
- Debut album “The Way I Feel” produced by noted west coast producer Tom McKillip (One More Girl, Aaron Pritchett) released in 2005 and distributed by Royalty Records.
- Mainstay at major country events like the Calgary Stampede where his no nonsense, let’s get down to business and have a good time vibe has earned him a legion of die hard fans.
Craig has opened for Sarah Evans; been a celebrity judge at Calgary Stampede Parade; performed at Country Rockin’ New Year’s (2013); was part of the Las Vegas Showcase; and performed at the CFR Cowboy Cabaret with David Lee Murphy. And, that’s just a few of the many things he’s been involved in. You can learn more by visiting his web site.
Here is the video he posted on his Facebook page today. I hope you will all watch this, and let me know what you think of this song, and of Craig Moritz. I’m still very impressed with this guy. And I think you are all going to like him, too.
In addition to his web site, be sure to check out his Facebook page (and remember to “Like” it while you are there). Visit his YouTube channel and listen to some of his great music!
