We have so much to tell you all about here at Country’s Chatter. But, we’re going to take it just a little out of order, and start with a relatively new piece of information to share with all of you. Anyone who watches television is probably familiar with the show X-Factor. And, if you were a fan of that show, I am certain you know who Rachel Potter is.
Rachel just put out a great video, for her single Boomerang (featuring Joey Stamper). That single is available on iTunes. You can watch the video on YouTube, by clicking here. This is a great country song, and Rachel has an amazing voice. Her vocals are clear, powerful, and she has not only a huge vocal range, but great control. Vocally she will put you in mind of artists like Martina McBride and Sara Evans. At the same time, once you hear her sing, you are going to remember her voice. “Boomerang” is a love song, with a story to tell, and I am guessing that is why she called on Joey Stamper for a little help. The ‘duet’ format works for “Boomerang”. When you hear this, the only question you might have is – ‘why am I hearing it on You Tube, and not on the radio”. I have a feeling that radio thing will be along real soon.
The bio in the ‘About’ section on her web site, starts with a great quote. Rachel said, “God doesn’t put dreams in people’s hearts if he doesn’t intend to make them a reality.” Rachel is certainly on the right track to making her dreams come true. She has a very impressive resume, which includes roles as Wednesday in The Addams Family on Broadway, and The Mistress in the Tony-nominated revival of Evita, with Ricky Martin; and Glinda on the national tour of Stephen Schwartz’s smash hit Wicked.
Though Rachel has a Broadway background, I think she picked the right genre’ when she decided she wanted to be a country singer. If you remember her audition on X-Factor, she turned “Somebody to Love” by Queen into a country hit. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – in our male-dominated country music world, we need artists like Rachel Potter. If somehow you missed that performance, check it out below. (if you are having trouble seeing the video, please watch on YouTube)
“Boomerang” is off her first full-length album, Not So Black and White, which is due out early in 2015. Hopefully, we’ll have more about that album for you all very soon.
In addition to her web site, be sure to visit her Facebook page, and remember to “Like” it while you are there. You can follow her on Twitter @therachelpotter. And, if you aren’t already following Country’s Chatter on Twitter, please do. You will find us @countryschatter.
We’ll be back with more soon. We have a number of press releases to get up for you, another album review or two, and even a few more shows we need to tell you about. But there are some travel plans in the middle of all this – so we will be back with more as soon as we can! In the mean time, head on over to Rachel’s web site, and check out her face book page. Let me know what you think of this artist. We always like hearing what you have to say.
Back with more soon!
