Country boys need to sing country music. That’s what Brandon Rhyder does. The title song on his CD, “That’s Just Me,” is my favorite of the 12 on this album. It’s just him – Brandon, from the country and singing country. The CD is available on iTunes, and is full of music just written for those of us who want more country in our world. In addition to the title track, the other 11 songs you will get are Haggard, Leave, Love Red, Pray the Night, Scar Kitty, Richest Poor People, Don’t Rob Me Blind, Undercover Lover, Some People, Hell’s Gate, and Let Him.
Brandon has established himself as a fixture in the Texas Country/Red Dirt scene. He has released seven albums and has had four No. 1 singles on the Texas Music Charts. If I ever decided to pack my bags and find a new state, music like this is one of the reasons that move might take me to Texas.
I want to share the video for “That’s Just Me”. Love the song, it’s a great video. You’ve got kids, horses, cowboys, hunting, bow shooting, baseball, pretty ladies, boats, fishing, a tractor, and a good-looking cowboy or two. Oh yes, and a truck. Pretty much everything you need for a story-telling, entertaining video…and it’s country music.
That’s Just Me was produced by both Brandon, and his longtime guitar player, Matt Powell. This serves as his eighth full-length album over the span of 12 years. Recorded and carefully crafted at The Zone in Dripping Springs, Texas, this highly anticipated release includes co-writes from fellow Texan powerhouses and friends Josh Abbot and Wade Bowen, that are sure to become fan favorites. The debut single from the album, “Haggard,” is heavily inspired by Charlie Daniels and Riders in the Sky and is a clear picture into Brandon’s youth. The song proved to be wildly successful, as it scored the No. 1 position on the Texas Regional Radio Report this past Spring.
