Hard to believe a whole year has gone by since Northeast Tennessee residents, along with visitors from Southwest Virginia and Western North Carolina, had an opportunity to attend the 2nd annual Hometown Throwdown in Kingsport, Tenn. This event is hosted each year by singer/songwriter Brinley Addington. Brinley is a Kingsport native, now residing in Nashville. This year, Brinley will again take the stage at this event to raise money for our local Children’s Miracle Network. Chuck Wicks will be the headliner!
The event will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015, at the Kingsport Farmer’s Market. Gates open at 6 p.m. Tickets are just $10 in advance, or $12 the day of the event, and can be purchased at Food City stores throughout the Kingsport/Church Hill, Tenn., area – or at First Kingsport Credit Union (408 Clay St., Kingsport).
For more than 25 years, Wellmont Health Systems has served as Children’s Miracle Network affiliate in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. The health system uses all money raised in this area to purchase state-of-the-art equipment for its pediatric departments, neonatal intensive care unit and emergency departments, and to fund community partnerships that advance children’s health. [Pictured above, Brinley Addington, event founder] A lot of people come together every year to make this event possible. Food City, First Kingsport Credit Union and WXBQ Radio are among the many folks to we all need to thank for making this fundraiser possible.
Chuck Wicks is certainly no stranger to charity events and fund-raising efforts. Over the past few years, Chuck has hosted StageIt concerts to raise money for City of Hope; he has participated in City of Hope benefit concerts; and, in the charity softball game. This year, we are fortunate to have him here in Northeast Tennessee to help with the benefit for Children’s Miracle Network.
Most of us first became familiar with Chuck back in 2007, when the RCA Records artist stole the hearts of his fans with his debut single, “Stealing Cinderella”. That song made it’s way into the Top 5 on national country music charts, and was followed with his Top 20 hit, “All I Ever Wanted”. If you’ve been following Chuck’s career over the last 8 years, you probably heard his 2013 EP, “Rough”. The 5-track EP included the song “Us Again”, which is one of my favorite Chuck Wick songs. If you haven’t listened to Chuck for a while, you might want to head over to Spotify and see what you’ve been missing!
