We always enjoy hearing about people who do nice things for other people. And, it always seems even more special when family is involved. We received a little press release recently about David Shelby. David recently got his dad a 1964 Dodge Polara. That was the first car his dad ever had when he was young. What a thoughtful gift, and such a happy dad! We appreciate David sharing this story with us, so we could share it with you. Here is the press release.
Highway South Records artist David Shelby has always appreciated the sacrifices his parents made on his behalf, especially as he pursued his music dreams. Last week, he was beyond thrilled to make his father, Gene, the center of attention by presenting him with a fully-restored 1964 Dodge Polara. Gene was known as “Moochie Mopar” in the ’60s, and the muscle car was almost identical to the first car he owned.
“Both of my parents have been huge supporters of everything I have done in music,” said David. “This was a small payback for music lessons, schlepping me to rehearsals, performances and gigs before I could drive and just being there for me pursuing this crazy dream.”
When Gene first laid eyes on the restored car, he said, “that’s my car – it’s just like the one I used to have.” David then handed his father the keys and informed him this was, in fact, now his car. Gene was speechless.
David has been in the studio with producer Russ Zavitson working on new music, and a new single is slated for release this fall. He has several dates in the Midwest through next month.
