Who saw this one coming? Not me. Looks like Mondays are turning out to be ‘not so good’ days for our married country artists. On Monday, July 20, we heard that Miranda and Blake were ending their marriage. Today, Monday, Aug. 3, it was announced that Reba McEntire and Narvel Blackstock will be separating after 26 years of marriage.
“Despite this being the end of their marriage, they continue to support each other,” the duo said in a statement from Big Machine Label Group. “They have worked together for 35 years and will continue to do so. They have asked that you respect their privacy during this time.” A representation from Big Machine declined to say whether Reba and Narvel had filed for divorce.
Anyone who has been watching Reba’s career since her debut album back in 1876 know what an amazing career she has had. Records, albums, television, movies, and even theater. She’s definitely carried home her share of trophies and honors from places like the Country Mu sic Association, Academy of Country Music, Music City News Country Awards, NARM, American Music Awards, TNN Viewers Choice Awards, People’s Choice Awards. Country Radio Awards, Blockbuster Awards, Country Weekly Golden Pick Awards, British Country Music Awards, CMT International Awards, Drama desk Awards, Outer Critics Awards, Family Television Awards…and, the list goes on.
This wasn’t Reba’s first marriage. But, I think most of her fans thought it would be her last one. All the best to both Reba and Narvel, as they continue working together on their amazing careers. She is definitely one our country music’s favorites – and, one of ours.
