We haven’t said a lot about Joey lately. But, like all of their fans, we have certainly been keeping Joey and Rory in our thoughts and prayers. We posted an article on July 13, 2015, shortly after Joey entered a Cancer Treatment of America Center in Zion, Ill. They shared a lot of photos with their fans, and we passed those on to all of you. Photographs included crates of mail, photos of Joey and Rory, and even little Indiana – you can re-read that article by clicking here. With Joey’s announcement that she has stopped all treatments for her stage IV cancer, we wanted to share a few photos from past years, and just let everyone know that we are with them in spirit as they continue this battle. I have liked Joey and Rory since the first time I heard them. I really don’t understand why we didn’t hear more of their music on the radio. “To Say Goodbye,” “That’s Important to Me,” “If Not For You,” “Play the Song” – and so many more great songs these two recorded that you still listen to if you have their CDs, or if you pull them up on YouTube or Spotify – but, you just didn’t hear them on the radio. “My Life is Based on a True Story” is a beautiful song, where Rory actually does a lot of the singing. It is from their album “Inspired”.
Rory has been blogging, and on Friday (Oct. 23, 2015), he started his post with this: “Sometimes there just aren’t enough surgeries – or doctors – or chemotherapies – or prayers. And you have to wipe the tears from your cheeks and say the words that you were hoping to never have to say…Enough.”
We should all have the faith and strength that Joey and Rory are showing during this very difficult time. They may not know it, but for many of us, they are teachers right now. And, for others going through similar situations, they are helping more than they realize. One of the things Rory wrote in his Friday blog will always stay with me. He said, “I’m not going to tell you that I’m okay with this because ‘God has a bigger plan’. Or that ‘we’ll understand His bigger purpose somewhere down the line’. That logic doesn’t really work for me right now. I’m not angry at God. I’m not angry with anyone. I’m just disappointed.”
I’m going to close this out with a few more pictures – from happier times these two shared. And, times they invited all their fans to their farmhouse to share those happy times with them.
Please keep lifting this beautiful family up in prayer.
