When we get a video from an artist we aren’t familiar with, we watch it. sometimes we go ‘that was okay’. Sometimes we say, ‘that is not country music’. But, there are times, we we jump our of our chair and say, “We didn’t know they still made music like that!” there you have our reaction to the video form Paul Bogart, for his great song, “Cowboy Ride”.
The video pays tribute to the men who have best defined the contemporary real-world cowboy lifestyle. It is ultimately a tribute video to all of those who have inspired the younger cowboy generation. Paul Bogart currently has over 894,000 Channel views on Youtube and is averaging 15,000 new views a month.
I would have posted this video sooner, but when I heard it, I wanted to find out more about Paul Bogart. And, here is what I found out. His bio starts with a line I’ve used myself, I heard it this way: “All you need to write a good country song is three chords and a good story”. I like what Paul’s bio says better. The opening line of the “About” section on his web site reads: “If you were to look up the phrase “three chords and the truth” in the dictionary, you might see pictures of country legends like Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, and Johnny Cash…but more recently, you might also see Paul Bogart.”
Paul is a cowboy. I’m guessing from what I read on his web site that he pretty much knows his way around a ranch. And, I’m sure what he does there he does as well as he writes music. Head over to his web site, read the about section there – you’re going to like what you find out about Paul. He has some shows listed on the web site, too. Unfortunately for those of us who don’t live in Oklahoma, that is where most of his shows seem to be happening right now. We hope he will venture out this direction before too long.
You can hear clips from a lot of Paul’s songs on his web site – with a link to iTunes, just in case (like me), you would like to own some of this great music! “Old School Country Song,” “Oklahoma Wind” and “Just Might be Love” are great country songs. They’re all good! I want to go to one of his shows.
What did you think of the song. Great tribute to our cowboys. Loved that it was in black and white. Kind of took me back to the days of Saturday morning television – which, most of you are probably too young to remember. But, those were cowboy Saturdays – not cartoons. Do let me know what you think of that song. I love hearing al of your thoughts
