sQBGj7_SNNUSlHmwYNw8EyMTWTof1O815aiJBZQJ3mMI listened to the EP. “Chaser,” about a dozen times.  But, from the first note of the first song, I thought “I’ve heard this song before”.  But, I knew I hadn’t. The song sounded as if someone said to Nick Alligood, “I want you to take everything that makes today’s country music good, and put it into one song.”  Nick accomplished that with “Better on a Barstool”.

He didn’t stop there.  He carried that Cole Swindell, Chase Rice, Thomas Rhett, ‘today’s country sound’ right into the second track, “One More Anything”.  With a very familiar “whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh” throughout the catchy melody and memorable lyrics, “One More Anything” might be my favorite of the three songs on this short, but extremely well done EP.

The last song on the EP is the title track, “Chaser”.  This one is a just little slower than the first two, although not slow enough to be considered a ballad. It puts me in mind of something Chris Young might have recorded. It is, however, every bit as good as the first two.

Like Florida Georgia Line did with “Cruise” and Michael Ray did with “Kiss You in the Morning,” it wouldn’t surprise me if Nick Alligood took any one of these ‘radio-ready’ songs and turned it into a number one hit.

I believe I just changed my mind about my favorite song on this EP. I think it’s probably “Better on a Barstool”.  It isn’t easy to pick a favorite, when every song on there is just as good as the one before it. My only question is:  “WHY did he stop with just three songs”.  This EP will definitely leave you wanting more!

The release date for this EP, which was produced by Brett Tyler and mixed by Billy Decker, is Nov. 24, 2015. The musicians who helped to make this EP what it is are:

Electric Guitar – Adam Shoenfeld (currently on tour with Tim McGraw and has played on Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Toby Keith, Michael Ray, Alabama, Tyler Farr, Blake Shelton, and many more albums)
Drums/Percussion – Miles McPherson (played on Kelly Clarkson, Tyler Farr, Lee Brice, and many more albums)
Acoustic/Banjo/Utility – Carl Miner (played on Granger Smith, Sundy Best, and Katie Armiger albums)
Bass – Joeie Canaday (played on Maddie & Tae, Jamie O’Neal, and Cowboy Troy albums)
Keys – David Dorn (played on Cody Johnson, The Lacs, and LoCash Cowboy albums)

And once again, your three great songs on the Chaser EP are:
Better On A Barstool – Written by Brett Tyler,  Jacob Powell, & Justin Lantz
One More Anything – Written by Brett Tyler, Alex Masters, & Ryan Lafferty
Chaser – Written by Nick Alligood

It looks to me as if 7-Hills (Independent Country Music Label, Nashville), has a real hit on their hands.

In addition to Nick’s web site, visit his Facebook page, and remember to “Like” it while you are there.  You can follow him on Twitter @Nick_Alligood.  You can follow Nick’s label on Twitter, too, @7hillsnash.  If you aren’t already following Country’s Chatter on Twitter, we’d love to have you. We need to be out of the office for a while this afternoon, but we’ll be back when we can.  In the meantime, you check out Nick’s music.  I think you’re going to like what you hear.
