JMM 111515John Michael Montgomery, Jared Ashley, and songwriters, CCMA “Songwriter of The Year” – Buddy Owens, as well as Ray Stevenson and Mark Ramsey  came together recently for a great cause to perform at Operation Cherrybend, A Hero’s Concert, a benefit to help wounded warriors in the region. Held at Wilmington, Ohio’s Murphy Theater, the SOLD-OUT show was part of a weekend of events supporting wounded vets that also included a hunt at nearby Cherrybend Pheasant Farm in Clinton County. The events were sponsored by R+L Carriers, Cherrybend Pheasant Farm, numerous local sponsors, and the U.S. Navy Flight Deck Veterans Group, an organization founded by former Navy vet Ashley to unite flight deck vets around the country in fellowship and service.

Ashley and the owners soon found they both had a heart for helping veterans, and Operation Cherrybend was born. “Their passion for kids and our veterans runs deep; it just seemed like a natural fit to host this event at Cherrybend,” said Ashley. “Being able to combine two of my passions during this week long event has been a dream come true for me.”

cvc Many wounded veterans were in attendance at the fun-filled concert, as well as former WWE Superstar and actor Ted Dibiase. Ashley got the packed house going during the show with a set of tunes including “Tequila Kissin,” his country single, “Last Train To Memphis,” and the classic “Hang on Sloopy,” before Montgomery launched into a hit-packed set featuring songs like “Sold,” and the apropos moving military tribute “Letters From Home.” Prior to the show both Montgomery and Ashley did meet and greets with the slew of fans on hand for the evening of fun. All proceeds from the event will go to support local wounded veterans in the Ohio area. For more information on Operation Cherrybend, go to www.fdvg.org.
