Merci I was getting ready to write this article about the song, “Almost Real”.  According to my notes, the ‘singer’ was a country/pop female, and her name was Mersi Stone. I found the song (or rather the song found me) when the singer “Tweeted” the link to me yesterday afternoon. Great voice, awesome song, wonderful melody, and those lyrics that make a song a true country song.  You know the kind.  Each word keeps you waiting for the sentence to finish, so you can see where the story is going.

Then, I watched the video again, went to the website of Mersi Stone, threw away all of my notes and started over.  That was when I realized that Mersi Stone is not a female country/pop singer.  Mersi Stone is a female, country/pop DUO!  The reason their voices blend so well, almost making them sound like one person, is because they are sisters who have been singing together since they were kids. If you weren’t convinced that practice makes perfect, this will be what convinces you.

While Kori Jean and Kels have been singing together since they were children, they came together professionally seven years ago in Austin, Texas. After playing a lot of shows in Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma and New Mexico, and traveling to Nashville many times to write and visit labels on Music row, the girls moved to Nashville, where they have performed at some of Nashville’s best-known venues, such as Bridgestone Arena, the famous Bluebird Cafe, 3rd and Lindsley. They have also performed at CRS week, and at CMA Music Festival.

Their single, “Into the Ground,” released in January and has been getting a good amount of air time in many parts of the country This is the only up-tempo song I heard from the girls.  It showed me a bit of a rock-sound that we don’t get in most of their songs. They seem to be able to sing any kind of music, and make it work for them.  “Into the Ground” certainnly isn’t the only song to do well for this great duo. The single “Wild and Free”,  hit No. 1 on Iceman’s Top 40 countdown on Best Country Radio. Best Country Radio is heard in over 142 countries around the world.
