We did not have the best weather for our 2016 Wayne Scott Strawberry Festival in Unicoi, Tenn., today (Saturday, May 21). The day started with rain on our 9 a.m. parade; and, Mother Nature didn’t seem to mind dropping several additional showers throughout the day. One of the brightest spots in the otherwise dreary day was when Daisi Rain stepped onto the main stage to entertain the crowd.
Country’s Chatter readers know that we have been following this band for many years now. Whenever they are on stage, we hope that we are in the audience. The band plays country, pop and a little rock, and they play it well. The group formed in 2004, and is made up of siblings Cameron Brown, lead guitar and banjo; Donovan Brown, drums and back-up vocals; and Amelia Brown, on fiddle, mandolin and back-up vocals. Joining them were Maurice Rajos, bass guitar; and Molly Jones, lead vocals.
While the Browns do write much of the music they usually perform, today’s show was made up of cover songs. And, they didn’t hold back, covering songs made famous by Loretta Lynn, Taylor Swift, Nancy Sinatra and even Adele, just to name a few. The hard work and many hours of practice that this group puts in becomes obvious to listeners as soon as the performance begins. Their extraordinary talent makes the easy to listen to; their stage presence and the fact that they really enjoy what they are dong makes them fun to watch.
They have earned credibility opening for major Nashville artists as: Easton Corbin, Ashton Shepherd, Jerrod Niemann, Craig Campbell; and have warmed the stage for: John Anderson, Jana Kramer, The Newsboys, and The Lovin’ Spoonfuls.
it is always nice to be able to travel to Nashville, Knoxville, or Bristol, Tenn., or even Asheville and Cherokee,N.C., to catch some of country music’s biggest stars on stage, but it is just as nice to have talented performers like Daisi Rain right here in our own back yard. If any of our readers see these kids coming to a fair, festival, or entertainment venue near you, I hope you will take the time to be a part of their audience. We were fans from the first time we saw them, and I believe you will be, too.
Daisi Rain has been honored to have worked under the consultation of Grammy Award winner, Linda Davis, as they accomplished their second Nashville recording in 2013 with Mr. Tony Harrell (producer) and Mr. Chad Carlson (recording engineer).
