Country music fans remember Meghan Linsey from her appearances on CMT’s television show, Can You Duet. After that, she went on to a successful career as half of Steel Magnolia, then as a solo artist. The world met Linsey when she was on NBC’s The Voice, and they fell in love with her. I have been a fan from day one of this young lady’s career – and I am now at the point where nothing she does surprises me; and, everything she does impresses me.
Musically, we all know that Meghan is a strong performer, with great stage presence and a powerful voice. That ‘only Meghan can do this’ combination of rock, country and soul,’ makes everything about her music unique, and more than easy to listen to. But, her humanitarian efforts are proving to be equally as dynamic as her musical abilities. A while back, animal-lover Meghan was accepting donations for the Louisiana Humane Society. And now, the Louisiana native has started a Go Fund Me page to raise money for people in Louisiana who are suffering through flooded homes, and all of the problems that come along with that.
In the opening paragraph on the fundraising page, Meghan wrote: “As a Louisiana native and a hometown Ponchatoula girl, it is with a heavy heart that I am starting this GoFundMe page. As you have probably seen on the news, southeast Louisiana was ravaged by, what they are calling the 500 year flood, over the weekend. Most families lost their entire homes, cars, EVERYTHING!”
She goes on to tell us: “I have banned together with my friend and fellow Season 8 of The Voice, winner, Sawyer Fredericks, his mom Kirsten, my mom Roberta and my dear friend Brittany Morris, who is living in Ponchatoula, to raise as much money as possible and to make sure that it goes directly to victims and their families and back into the local community where I am from.”
Her caring, compassionate efforts mean so much to the people in Louisiana. And, just knowing Meghan is that kind of person means a lot to her fans. She has invited all of us to help, in any way we can. Small donations are better than no donations at all. I’m sure she, and the folks in Louisiana, will be greatly appreciative of anything fans can offer. “I was feeling helpless being in Nashville but I truly believe, that if we all band together, we can make a difference. If you are able to donate, even a little bit, it all counts and adds up. Thank you all so much! God bless Louisiana. Xoxo Meg”
I hope you will all head over to the GoFundMe page, and leave whatever you can to help these people, who so desperately need our help.
Thank you, Meghan, for thinking about others first. You have proven time and time again just how big your heart is.https://www.countryschatter.com/2016/08/help-meghan-linsey-help-louisiana-flood-victims/Charity EventFundraiserCan YouDuet,GoFundMe,Louisiana floods,Meghan Linsey,The Voice
