IMG_7676I have seen Christian artists on stage before.  Jeremy Camp was the first one I saw that  turned his Christian concert into a major light show. Matthew West followed that same path last year, lighting up our Appalachian Fair stage while bringing us great music, and sharing God’s word.  Last night, MercyMe started their show, and I immediately reached for my sunglasses.

The Appalachian Fair is known for bringing in some of the best country artists every year.  But, they always sit one nigh aside for a great Christian band.  Fair-goers have been blessed over the years to see some of the top groups and artists in this genre’.  Mercy Me took the stage in front of what appeared to be the largest audience the fair has had so far this week!  It was one of the shows where not only every reserved seat was sold, but the grandstand was also full.  And, if you walked past the stage area, you had to work your way through the huge crowd that covered the lawn, stairs, and property leading to the midway.  Everyone was everywhere they could be to see and listen to MercyMe.

IMG_7662This was such an inspirational performance. Of course it included the songs we know from this group.   The audience could not help but sing along to their hits like “You Are, I Am”, “flawless”, and “I Can Only Imagine”. But, it didn’t stop there  I believe MercyMe had more than a few audience back-up singers for every single song. As if the music and awesome light show weren’t enough, we got some great testimony and worship. Anyone who doesn’t know what God can do in their life really needs to listen to Bart Millard tell his story.

This great band from Dallas, Texas, is made up of members Bart Millard, Barry Graul, Nathan Cochran, Robby Shaffer and Mike Scheuchzer.

I will close this out with a few more pictures from tonight’s show at the Appalachian Fair in Gray, Tenn.
