I’m a huge Colt Ford fan. I know what you’re thinking. I can see all of my regular readers shaking their heads asking themselves, “What did she say?” But, this is not the first time I’ve said that about Colt. I’ve been writing for Country’s Chatter for nine years, and over that nine-year period, you’ve all heard me say how much I love traditional country music. You’ve all heard me write about every legendary country artist, saying how much I enjoy their music. And, I have for more than 60 years. So, let me explain.
While I am not now, nor will I ever be a fan of country/rap, I have seen Colt Ford on stage four times. I loved his show from the first time I saw it. I sat in awe of this man’s talent. Of the people in his band, of how well he works with them. And, of his ability to put on a very entertaining show. I don’t like rap music (country or otherwise). However, I really noticed during the last Colt Ford show that I attended, that he sang more. Not rapped, sang! And he’s good. By his own admission, Colt is not the best vocalist on the planet, but I liked what I was hearing. Today, I heard his new song, “Four Lane Gone”, and I like it! Will the folks who select the songs we’re hearing on Top 40 radio agree with me. I have no idea, but I think it is a good song! I am glad the people at SiriusSX’s The Highway are playing it.
I also like Colt Ford, the person. He’s friendly, has an outgoing personality, spends time talking to fans, he’s a patriotic person with a huge love for America. And to be honest, he is just a joy to be around!
I received a press release about the song that I just had to pass on to all of you. Head over to YouTube and listen to this thing. I think you are going to like it, too. Nicely done, Colt!
[Press Release} Country Star Colt Ford’s brand new single, “4 Lane Gone,” makes its debut on SiriusXM’s, The Highway, today. Known for his spoken-word delivery, Ford takes us down a new path illuminating his vocal range on “4 Lane Gone.” The long-awaited new single, written by hit songwriters Houston Phillips, Josh Thompson, and Kyle Fishman, introduces Colt’s next studio album entitled, “Love Hope Faith,” scheduled for release early next year.
Commenting on “4 Lane Gone,” Ford said, “I constantly try to become better as an artist. It has and will always be about the songs and the fans for me. Houston Phillips, Josh Thompson and Kyle Fishman, great songwriters and friends of mine, sent this song to me. I knew the moment I heard “4 Lane Gone” it was a hit, but I didn’t know if I could deliver the song the way it needed to be.” He continued, “I pushed myself further than I ever have, and I am so proud of this song. I know I am far from the best singer, but I have found my voice and I have never been more excited!”
