John McEuenGrammy-award winning producer, songwriter and musician John McEuen has announced his plans to release his sixth album, “Made in Brooklyn” (Chesky Records).  The 16-track collection of signature originals and songs form yesterday was created in similar fasion to landmark the “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” and will appeal to all genres and all generations.  “Made in Brooklyn” is scheduled for release on Sept. 30, 2016.

I’m listening to this now.  I know they sent it to me so I could review it.  But, I’m not sure I can review it.  I like it.  If I were to attempt a review, it would certainly contain the words relaxing and calming, right next to the words exhilarating and invigorating. If it’s possible for a CD to produce music that is settled back and energizing at the same time, John McEuen has accomplished that – with a little help from his friends.

The album brings together some of the greatest pickers and singers out there – You get all this talent on one CD:

John McEuen (producer, guitar, mandolin, banjo, fiddle, vocals
David Bromberg, acoustic guitar and slide, vocals
Steve Martin, banjo
David Amram, Penny whistle, flute and percussion
John Cowan, lead vocalist
John Carter Cash, vocals
Martha Redbone, writer
Jay Unger, fiddle
Andy Goessling, mandolin, zither, saz, dobro
Matt Cartsonis, vocals, steel, mandolin
Skip Ward, bass
Kevin Twigg, drums and percussin
Lars (Lars is all cars!)  That’s what the list of players tells us.

John himself is a 50-year career, multi-instrumental “String Wizard”. He has performed more than 9,600 concerts covering more than three million miles globally with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and as a solo performer. He has won GRAMMYs, been nominated for Emmy awards, CMA and ACM awards and the Will the Circle Be Unbroken album was recognized as the most important record to come out of Nashville.
