If you are the kind of country music fan I am, you probably made the same mistake I did the first time you heard the music of Colt Ford. I remember hearing “Chicken and Biscuits” and shaking my head while saying to myself, “that’s horrible”. I suppose what I was really saying was, “In my opinion, THAT is not country music”.
My opinion of country-rap really hasn’t changed over the years. My opinion of Colt Ford has! I first saw him on stage in August, 2010. I was totally entertained from the beginning of that show to the end. Cold Ford was more than a country-rapper. He was a entertainer. His band was good, his show was good, the entire performance was good. I couldn’t stop talking about him. I have been to three Cold Ford shows since, and I’m sure I’ll be at another sometime in the future.
I first noticed Colt’s voice when I saw him at a show I went to, in Abingdon, Va. Colt did a lot more singing than rapping. And I remember being amazed at the fact that he really could sing. He had a great voice, an awesome stage presence, and there was nothing I didn’t like about him. Oh, except the rap music. I wanted him to so a single, showcasing that voice. And he has.
I’m not sure how many of you have heard Colt’s single, “4-Lane Gone”, so I thought it was time you did. It’s been out a while, but I know a lot of you still haven’t heard it. Let me know what you all think of this song. It is definitely on my playlist. Now, it would be nice if country radio would push some of their ‘country-pop’ and ‘country-rock’ aside to make room for this one on its playlist.
In addition to Colt’s website, visit his Facebook page, and remember to “Like” it while you are there. He has several other social media links on his website, so have a look at those as well. And, you can follow him on Twitter @coltford. If you aren’t already following Country’s Chatter on Twitter, we’d love to have you.
