We told you all about Eric Ray, back in September, 2016.  for an introduction to this artist, please read (or re-read) that article, by clicking here. In that article, we shared the video of his single, “Daddy Won’t You Please Come Home”.  Eric’s music is simple, honest, genuine.  He has a way of telling a story that is so real and sincere, that no matter what story he is telling, his music makes it easy to listen to.  Almost ‘relaxing’

We have another video for you today, and this is wonderful.  Eric told us about the song, and the video before the holidays, and we just didn’t have time to post it then, but we do now, and we want to let Eric tell you about both the song, and the video. ”I recorded it here (in Alaska},” Eric told us, “with a guy named Scot Q Meri.”  He continued, “I was very fortunate to meet him. He was in Nashville for many years and has played on many country hits. When he invited me to his studio I knew I was in the right place. All over his walls were CD’s in frames of songs he has worked on. Most of the country greats”

Eric-Ray-1“Scot was very humble about it really,” Eric said. “I asked just a few questions. I saw a pic of him and Garth Brooks on the mantle and I asked about it. He and Garth were friends since Garth came to town and He told me a story about a wonderful thing Garth did. Without getting into names on the particulars..Garth sent his private jet here to Alaska to pick up a woman who was very ill. He sent his plane to pick her up and take her back to Nashville to get proper treatment. In the end she passed away but what a wonderful thing Garth did without telling the world. Just a wonderful thing to help a friend. I got lucky meeting Scot. I was driving past the music store and decided to drop in. I didn’t know the guy behind the counter but I asked him if he knew of a professional studio..he said he had one and asked me if I wanted to take a look. So we booked a time and when I walked in it was like a wonderland. Top of the line everything. A proper studio..a world class studio here in Alaska…what are the odds?”.

He continued telling me about how the song came to be – “We then booked a time to go over my song. I played it for him and asked if he knew of a guitar player who could pick as mu picking is not up to par…but I can do it it is just not wonderful.”  Eric told us that Scott said he could send it to Nashville to any number of his friends and then he picked up his Martin guitar and showed me what he could do, Eric continued. “I was blown away.” he explained.  “No need to send anything off to Nashville concerning this song as Scot has the chops! It was a joy working with such a talent and there was no need for me to buy a ticket to record in Nashville! Nashville is here in Alaska,” Eric said.

Eric-RayWe think the song is wonderful, and were very impressed with the homemade video.  It’s so professional, and the shots with eagles are breathtaking.  Eric talked to us about the video, sharing that, “I shot the video myself here in Alaska..it took a few weeks of finding the right shots and waiting for the weather to be good for video. Many days it was just snowing..but on the days that were clear and nice I went to work..drove all around finding the best shots and then repeating that process for days on end. Getting shots of the eagle flying took some time as they don’t pose for videos very well But i finally got a few good shots of them.”

To get everything he needed, Eric said, “”I also drove many miles to a place called Cooper Landing where the mountains are. it was a nice day when I drove there but then wouldn’t you know it the fog descended from the mountains and well…it worked anyway.”

The song is “Your Angel Wings”.  Here is the video.  Let us know what you think.  I hope you all enjoy this as much as we do.

“Your Angel Wings” is available on iTunes and Google Play.
