A few years back, I put up a short article about Valentine’s Day. I’ve been married for 47 years. You would think something like Valentine’s Day might be important to me. It never has been. Not that I don’t like romance, and love. I have nothing against that – in fact, I’m not sure what my last 47 years would have been like without it.
There’s just something about buying cards, and candy or jewelry, and showering people you love with gifts (just because there’s a red heart on the calendar on Feb. 14), that somehow takes all the romance out of it. The year I posted the article about Frankie and his quote (which we’ll get to in a minute), my husband and I purchased a new refrigerator. I told all my readers back then that the refrigerator didn’t have a thing to do with it being Valentine’s Day, it certainly wasn’t a gift commemorating the occasion – I just needed a new refrigerator.
Turns out Frankie Ballard and I pretty much feel the same way – not about refrigerators – but, about Valentine’s Day. Here is that Frankie Ballard quote that made me smile when I first read it — and it still does.
For all of you getting ready to celebrate Valentine’s Day. I wish you a happy one! And if a diamond pendant is on your holiday wish list, I hope you get what you want. As for me – I don’t need another refrigerator, so let me think about it for a while. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!https://www.countryschatter.com/2017/02/i-wonder-if-frankie-ballard-still-feels-this-way-about-valentines-day/MiscellaneousFrankie Ballard,Valentine's Day
