Luke Bryan
called Bobby Bones radio show to talk about how honored he is to be singing the National Anthem at Sunday’s Super Bowl Game in Houston.  And, he made sure to tell Bobby and all of his listeners know that he would not be lip-syncing the song.  He will be doing it live for his stadium and television audience.  Luke admitted to Bobby that he was a little nervous about the performance.

“I’m just gonna do it a capella, so there’s no way to…I would never be able to lipsync it in case of a disaster. I mean, and the only disaster would be if I come down with the flu Saturday night,” he told the radio show. [Source]

Of course Luke is not the first country artist to open the Super Bowl by singing the National Anthem.  Carrie Underwood, Garth Brooks The Dixie Chicks, and Faith Hill have all done the anthem at past Super Bowl games.

Super Bowl 51 will LI will be held on Sunday, Feb. 5.  Luke will perform the anthem just before kickoff, which is scheduled for 6:30  p.m. (ET).  The game will be broadcast on FOX.

This isn’t the first time Luke has done the anthem at a sporting event. The photo at the top of this article s from a 20111 Tennessee Titans game. The video below is from the 2012 All Star Game.
