I am a longtime fan of Southwest Virginia’s Kaitlyn Baker.  We’ve posted a number of articles about her, including her appearance the grand opening at a Cabala’s in Bristol, an opening at a Matt Stillwell, show, and the release of her EP Blackbird. With the release of her new single, “Drinkin’ Hours”, we think you will be hearing a lot more about her in the future.  This is a great song, from a fantastic artist–one you will not only want to see in concert, but a young lady who will soon be in your collection of CDs and Downloads.

The “About Section” on her Facebook gives us a very in-depth biography.  She is referred to as the modern day “coal miner’s daughter”.  Kaitlyn was raised in the coal mining region of Virginia, where her family has worked for generations and where the coal dust covers more than just the birds in a veneer of black. [Source]  The bio goes on to tell us that that her song “Heart of Appalachia”

was adopted as the official theme song for the Heart of Appalachia Tourism Authority, a nonprofit organization that promotes tourism.

Kaitlyn has performed all over the country, opening for Brad Paisley, Craig Morgan, Brett Eldredge, Travis Tritt, LOCASH, and a host of other artists. Head over to her Facebook page to check out the rest of the information “About” Kaitlyn.

The Huffington Post listed her as one of the  “Top 10 Country Artists to Watch”; Buzzfeed said she is “Feisty” – Got Country described her as “Empowering”; and the Dayton Daily News told readers she is “One of country music’s fastest rising stars.”

Country’s Chatter agrees.  We think Kaitlyn Baker is just what country music needs right now.  It’s time to get more female artists back on the radio, back on the charts, and back on nominee lists at awards events.  Kaitlyn can do this.  Be a part of her fast-growing fan base by keeping up with her on her social media sites.
