We received this note in our email today, and wanted to share it with all of you.  Our thoughts and prayers are with John Driskell Hopkins.  If you are in a position to give your financial support to “Hop On A Cure”, to help fund research for ALS, there is a link below where you can do so.   The note John sent out to fans in e-mail follows:

Friends,

John Driskell Hopkins here — I have some tough news to share.

If you’re receiving this email, it’s because I love you, and whether you’re willing to admit it or not, you love me.  Over the last several yeas, I’ve been dealing with some stiffness in my body, and some slurred speech (which isn’t bourbon related).  After many analyses by many incredible doctors, I’ve been diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

ALS is a degenerative neuromuscular disease that has no cure.  My symptoms hve been present for some4 time now, meaning that the progression is slow, which is good news.  Typically research shows a 3-5 year  lifespan after diagnosis, but the slow progressions tands to reason that I will be around longer than that.

My amazing family and  have a great support team, and we’re very grateful to you all for being part of it.  I welcome your messages of love, but don’t be angry with me if I don’t engage to the extent one might expect as I focus on positivity and fundraising.  In the meantime, I’m still on your with Zac Brown Band, writing songs, and making a fourth Christmas album, and look forward to having you all as part of it.

Hop On A Cure is my family’s foundation to support research to prevent, reverse, and cure ALS while raising awareness, building a compassionate community, and unleashing the healing power of hope.  Visit HopOnACure.org to donate, and grab a t-shirt to help spread awareness.  Thank you for your prayers and support.

See y’all around,
John Driskell Hopkins

We hope our readers will join in with a donation to this foundation.  The t-shirts are a great way to spread awareness throughout your community. Sending our well wishes, love and prayers to John and his family.
