Country music was founded on songs about lost love and heartbreak, so Jordan James and his co-writers, Jeff Garrison and Greg Bates decided to have a little fun with the idea. “Truckin’ Around,” produced by GRAMMY-nominated Brad Hill (Maren Morris, Brothers Osborne), certainly isn’t your typical song about heartache.
Listeners will enjoy the tongue-in-cheek lyrics as the songwriters describe the character of the song, a simple pickup truck driver who loses his love to a luxury sedan type of guy, as he reminiscences about the fun they used to have running around town in his pickup truck… Truckin’ Around.
“When you think of a breakup song, you think of sad, slow music. ‘Truckin’ Around‘ is the complete opposite,” said Jordan James. “It’s an energetic, crowd-pleaser that gets people singing along before the end of the song.”
With a refined musical style that can best be described as “Country Music for the 21st Century,” Jordan James is perfectly poised to leave a lasting mark on the country music industry, and this song is a perfect example of that.
“Truckin’ Around” is available now on all streaming platforms.
More About Jordan James:
Jordan James began singing and writing at an early age. In fact, the Atlanta, Georgia native was selected to sing with Kenny Rogers as part of his annual Christmas concert when he was just 12 years old. The experience sparked him to pursue music as a writer, artist, and performer. In his teens, he won the Nashville CMT Rising Star award and was named Most Outstanding New Vocalist. He quickly began sharing the stage with country stars, such as Joe Nichols, Tyler Farr, Jake Owen, Mark Wills, and Charles Kelley.
At 16 years old, he was hand-picked by legendary producer and 14-time Grammy Award-Winner David Foster to be a part of Foster’s 2009 Hit Man Tour. He collaborated with and was accompanied by David Foster on stage at the Historic Fox Theater in Atlanta, GA.
The rising young talent moved to Los Angeles to pursue his music career and quickly found success with major pop artists including Andy Grammer, Hailee Steinfeld, and others recording his songs. Despite his early success writing for the pop world, James found himself longing to get back to his country roots. He returned to Nashville with wisdom well beyond his years and is now carving his own path in Music City.
