The final recordings the Carter Sisters ever made together will be released for the first time, beginning with the track “Foggy Mountain Top,” which is available today. The full album, “Voices from the Ridge: The Final Sessions,” will arrive on all major streaming platforms via StarVista Music on June 5, 2026. Recorded during a series of intimate sessions that brought Helen Carter and Anita Carter together, along with June Carter Cash, John Carter Cash and Lori Davis Bennett, the album stands as a symbol of the Carter Sisters’ artistry and offers a rare chance for listeners to hear the last chapter of one of country music’s most influential family legacies. Produced by Pat Holt, Ken Little and Mike Daniel, these sessions took place in March and April 1993 and represent the last time the sisters recorded together. Featuring songs written by A.P. Carter, founding member of The Carter Family, “Voices from the Ridge” includes newly restored original recordings of ”Blue Eyes,” “Foggy Mountain Top,” “My Clinch Mountain Home,” “I Have No One To Love Me” and “Lonesome Valley,” among other classics. Helen and Anita Carter contributed acoustic guitar, while June Carter Cash added autoharp, evoking the timeless sound first ushered into the world by Mother Maybelle. Additional musicians include Dave Roe (stand-up bass), Chris Leuzinger (acoustic guitar), David Russell (mandolin) and David Smith (stand-up bass).

Producer Pat Holt, who worked closely with the sisters throughout the project, reflects on the experience:
“When June Carter first called me to do an album of the Carter Sisters’ favorite family songs, I knew it was going to be something very special. I never imagined how special it would turn out. They poured their hearts and souls into what would turn out to be the last recordings of the sisters together. It was spiritual to work with the three of them, playing the very instruments Mother Maybelle first introduced at the dawn of country music. I have never been more moved or pleased as a producer.”
Producer Ken Little echoes that sentiment:
“Country music blossomed when the Carter family first came on scene. As the Carter sisters carried the family legacy forward, the unmistakable vocal blends of the three sisters opened yet another chapter of country music history. I was immediately struck with how genuine their voices and playing felt as they laid down the tracks for this record. The blends were incredible. The simplicity in the songs was underscored by an intense musical complexity that only comes from years of bonding. It was such a great honor to be a part of this record. I’m anxious for the world to hear it.”
The Carter Sisters, made up of Maybelle Carter of The Carter Family and her daughters Anita Carter, Helen Carter and June Carter Cash, released their first single in 1949 and went on to record a number of albums together and as solo projects. They are one of the most beloved acts in country music, earning fans during their performances at the Grand Ole Opry that spanned nearly 10 years and the work they did with legendary artists including Chet Atkins, Waylon Jennings, Elvis Presley, Ernest Tubb and, of course, Johnny Cash.
