Just about every Country’s Chatter reader we talk to tells us they want to see more female artists featured on this site.  What they are really saying is they want more females on country radio, in country music venues and even at songwriter events.  For all of those readers, we are very happy to introduce you to Alexis Taylor.

When we listened to Alexis’s new single, “How Do You Sleep,”  we immediately wanted to rush over to her website and hear more. She released the single on Jan. 14. This ballad is a story.  The almost hypnotizing piano opening is followed by a first line that makes you want to listen. “It took me a second to hear what you were saying…..”, the listener is going to want to get to the rest. You want to know where the story is going. It doesn’t take long to rezlize that this is not a happy love story. There’s something going on.  So you sit back, enjoy the music, get lost in her perfect vocals, and wait for the story to unfold.

On her website, you will find this song, along with two others.   The three songs on the site are great examples of what this up-and-coming country artist can do.  From the two slow ones, to the mid to uptempo “Blame the Whiskey,” they all tell a story, and they definitely all focus on her talent as a vocalist.  Alexis gets to showcase her writing talents, too, having penned all three of these songs.

Her bio tells us that she was born and raised in a small town in Ontario Canada.  Her parents are both songwriters.  With that in her blood, it just makes sense that Alexis belongs in music, too.  She visited Nashville in 2012, and fell in love with the city.  She now lives in Nashville where she is pursuing music full time.

Alexis has been on tour throughout Scandinavia, opening for renowned singer/songwriter Doug Seegers.  “Being able to open for someone as talented and genuine as Doug Seegers along with his incredibly gifted band has been an experience of a lifetime,” she says. “The opportunity truly allowed me to grow as a performer, and I am so grateful that Doug took me under his wing.”

Alexis 1Her debut single, “Blame The Whiskey” gave her an opportunity to do a radio tour, and appear live on many radio stations throughout North America.  She also took part in Canadian Music Week in Toronto, and CMA Fest in nashville.  She was voted Female Vocalist of the Year at the 2018 Tennessee Music Awards, and performed at the USO Northwest Gala.  That single spent six weeks on ReverbNation’s provincially ranked country artist charts.

In addition to her webstie, follow Alexis on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. “How Do You Sleep” is available at all digital outlets.
