DyDylan Jakobsen released his second full-length album I Am today, giving fans a preview of the collection via an exclusive lyric video premiere for lead single “In America” with PopCulture yesterday (3/7). The tune is one of 12 on the concept album, which takes fans through a complete story, beginning to end.   Stream/purchase I Am HERE.

“This album is really a piece of my soul. I Am is the closest representation of who I am I think I could ever get,” said Jakobsen. “When I was eight, I learned guitar, and by age 12 I’d picked up drums, bass – you name it – and started laying down my own songs on a little Tascam 8-track. Now, at 25, I’m proud to say after years of practice, I have several instruments under my belt. And honestly, I’ve never been so proud to say I wrote, produced and tracked 100% of I Am in my home studio. That’s a feeling I can’t quite explain.”

I Am also includes “What Are You Waiting For” – a “feel-good motivational song” on which Jakobsen’s “voice soars” (The Boot) that closes the album. He enlisted the help of fans via social media for the final chorus to the song, enhancing the track’s messaging.

“The result was incredible … I don’t think there was a more perfect way to end the album,” Jakobsen told The Boot. “I love that they got to put a part of themselves on a song with such an important message … To hear them singing back to you, not just at a show, but permanently ingrained on the album, it’s something really special.”
