DNI don’t have a ‘bucket list’.  I’m not sure why, I guess it was just never important to me. But, if I were to start such a list, the first thing I would put on it would be ‘go wherever you have to go to see Derek Norsworthy in concert’.

DN 01We’ve had several articles posted about Derek. The first one being back in March, 2019, when we introduced all of our readers to this very talented young singer’songwriter from Southern Mississippi.  That was also my first introduction to Derek, and since then I have been listening to everyting I could find on Spotify and YouTube from this fantastic artist.

DN1Derek doesn’t just have a ‘band’….He has a BAND!  I’m talking about lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass guitar, acouostic guitar, drums, saxophone section, two trumpets and three backup singers.  The music this group purs out is some of the best I’ve heard.

DerekIt would be hard for me to post an article about Derek without mentioning his best fan, and the young lady who introduced me to him, Miss Hannah Brewer. Hanah has not let her Downs Symdrom hold her back.  She is a photographer, and works very hard with her music, and supporting Derek and his band.

For anyone who is still not familiar with Derek, I think the best way to reintroduce him will be to give you the words in the “About” section on his Facebook.  He has so many accomplishments, and so much to share.

DN3Here is what that Facebook bio says:  “Proudly hailing from southern Mississippi, Derek Norsworthy is not your typical singer/songwriter, but rather an original modern artist with a high-energy show, outstanding songs, and memorable image. Derek has toured the southeastern region of the US playing college towns, renowned venues/festivals and opened for number of national acts such as Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Frankie Ballard, Thompson Square, Parmalee, Dustin Lynch, Brantley Gilbert, Charlie Daniels, 3 Doors Down and Alabama to name a few. Derek’s lyrical vulnerability, magnetic personality and vocally stellar live performances provide songs that are clean, real and connect with fans of all ages.

In 2014, Derek’s EP debuted at 165 on iTunes for total country sells within the first 8 hours of release, out selling artist such as Dustin Lynch, Chris Young, Eli Young Band and Will Hoge. Not only has Derek displayed competitive album sales and shared the stage with some of the industries prominent artists. In July of 2014, Derek celebrated his third song licensing contract, writing the official fight song for a 3-time National Champion college football team. The well-versed writer has also pinned the title cut “A Story To Tell” for film set to be released in late 2015. Derek’s success has earned notable features on CMT, American Songwriter Magazine, solidified a USO Ambassador Representative position, endorsements with McPherson Guitars. Derek is also the founder of Roots Foundation, a philanthropic group that focuses on providing assistance to charity organizations and promoting music education to schools. The Mississippi native has been validated as one of country music’s Rising Stars by some of the industries toughest critics, through developing an all ages, global fan base.”
