Sarah Darling teases new music from her upcoming new EP with the first single, “Waves,” released Oct. 22, 2021. The single is available worldwide on all streaming services here. With the single, Darling also released a sun-kissed, carefree music video, now showing on CMT.
“Waves” contemplates those moments of reflection in our lives of what might have been. We go down certain roads but can’t help feeling moments of nostalgia for what if. Darling describes love that way. She says, “We can be happy and feel we’ve moved on, but still think of the people and situations that impacted our life. It encompasses that “it comes in waves” feeling we get as humans. We have to ride them out.”
To explore these emotions, Sarah sat down with two award-winning co-writers, Rebekah Powell and Joe Hammill. Darling explains, “We were sitting on my front porch realizing we all have those what-ifs and might have beens, the emotional waves in our life. I think as artists, we try to tell a story that is more than just our own. It lets listeners feel like they aren’t alone in this world. That’s the power of music and the joy of being a storyteller.”
The accompanying music video, produced by Tara Diiorio of Velvet Sky Films, brings the song to life as it depicts Darling’s vision of how life carries us through emotional crests and troughs, like the waves in the ocean.
In the coming months, fans can expect more music from Darling as well as the chance to see her live beginning tonight when she will debut Waves at the Grand Ole Opry. The broadcast begins at 7:00 p.m. CST. This will be Sarah’s first time back on the Opry Stage since before the pandemic on the legendary broadcast. For more information and tickets for tonight, visit the Grand Ole Opry website here. Sarah will finish out 2021 with two upcoming tour dates, playing Green Note in London on Dec. 19 and Brighton Dome in Brighton on Dec. 22. She recently signed with Tommy Merrill at Marshall Arts USA and will announce tour dates for 2022 in the coming weeks.
Sarah’s new EP is her first new collection of songs since Wonderland, which was released on June 7, 2019, and earned the #1 country album slot on the UK Official Country Charts that year.
Darling says, “I kind of feel like the international girl next door. I’ve spent a lot of time abroad now. Every little nugget of wisdom, all the ups and downs, I’ve kept with me, and this collection of songs is my perspective on it all. There’s a new found strength added to my palette of colors. I’m grateful my story has been a unique one.”
By collaborating with writers and producers in Nashville, Los Angeles, and the UK, Darling has developed a distinct, contemporary country sound. She has been attracting ever-larger audiences to her pure vocals and unique brand of country music with performances at C2C Berlin, C2C London, Nashville Meets London, and the Cambridge Folk Festival. She has over 20 million streams on Spotify and Apple Music and has over 90 appearances on the Grand Ole Opry stage. She has appeared on BBC Breakfast, BBC One Sunday Morning Live, iTV Weekend, TBS’ Conan, FOX & Friends, HLN Morning Express with Robin Meade, ABC’s The Bachelor, and Total Country TV. Called ‘a sophisticated songwriter with a crisp, powerful voice’ by The New York Times, Darling has been tagged ‘Nashville’s Darling’ by Music City’s Convention and Visitors Bureau.
