[Editor’s Note:  This one definitely made us sit up and take notice.  Great song, lyrics and vocals. “Searchlight” from independent artist Corey Layne.  The only place we’re  going to put this one is on “REPEAT.]

[Press Release] Independent artist, Corey Layne, has released the haunting and emotionally powerful ballad, “Searchlight.” The song is available at all digital retailers at this link. Listen to “Searchlight” here.

“Searchlight” is the first single from Layne’s new album, ‘Bend, or Break’ which is available for pre-order at his website.

Co-written by Layne and David Kalmusky, who also produced the song, “Searchlight,” shines with Layne’s powerful and heartbreaking vocals recounting the process of moving on with life after a breakup.

“I’m excited to release ‘Searchlight’ because it’s an amazing song, not only lyrically, but it also captures what most people go through at least once in their life,” Layne states. “It’s a song about leaving the past behind and moving towards the future. And that’s been the story of my life for a few years. I like to try to convey real life through the music.”

Kalmusky adds: “We’ve all lived in the absence of someone’s light after they’re gone. We’ve had to keep moving and learn to let go. This is a song we’ve all lived, and Corey delivers it with genuine resonance.”

“I’ve been sitting here just thinking ‘bout you and where you’ve been
Even though you’re under someone else’s stars and moon that I still
see up in my sky
Tragedy, is sometimes all that you can see when destiny is not what you thought it would be
And it’s haunted me and followed me this far

I hit the open road ‘cause it only moves forward
Tearin’ up the stones and I’m finding new ground
Speeding past your ghost until I can’t hear your voice
Silence can be hopeless and darkness is in focus
When I’m not in your searchlight”

Singing from his heart and from real life experiences is nothing new for Layne. That realness and honesty in his artistry has earned him legions of fans across many live music stages across the country and on streaming and social platforms where his numbers are in the millions. Layne’s East Tennessee roots have greatly influenced his music as a country singer-songwriter. Inspired by his grandfather who had played the Grand Ole Opry, Layne’s music is heartfelt and emotional and covers the gamut of personal struggle and loss – to finding happiness and love. His original music inspires the listener with the resounding sincerity of his genuine vocals and searing lyrics.

Recorded at Addiction Sound, the backing band for the sonically layered and beautiful “Searchlight” includes David Kalmusky on electric and acoustic guitars, Sol Philcox-Littlefield on electric guitar, Chad Cromwell on drums, Marc Rogers on bass guitar, and Tim Lauer on keyboards. The song was produced and mixed by Kalmusky, engineered by Ethan Barrette, and mastered By Dan Shike.

Layne will make his debut national television appearance on the popular RFD Network show, ‘Larry’s Country Diner’ on March 10th at 7:00 PM ET, and will re-air on March 12th at 10:00 PM ET.

ABOUT COREY LAYNE:  Corey Layne’s East Tennessee roots have greatly influenced his music as a country singer-songwriter. Inspired by his grandfather who had played the Grand Ole Opry, Corey’s music is heartfelt and emotional. His work covers the gamut of personal struggle and loss to finding happiness and love. His original music inspires the listener with the resounding sincerity of his genuine vocals and searing lyrics.

Layne first began singing at around age five and writing music as a pre-teen. He has focused on honing his music skills as a writer, singer, and musician for most of his life. By 2003, he won an international singing competition, Teen Talent, which was held at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis. In 2010, he began traveling to sing background vocals with several prominent gospel artists, including Eddie James and Kirk Franklin, among others. A few years later, he signed his first record deal with an independent label. While traveling to promote his first album, Layne hit rock bottom after a near-death experience. He says, “This was the lowest point of my life until recently when I contracted COVID 19, was hospitalized, and was told that I would not survive it. Though I had a strong faith, it made me question everything. What gave me solace was believing there had to be a purpose in life for God to have given me this talent and the belief that I had something to offer country music fans. As it turns out, it was music that proved to be the most healing medicine of all.”
