The Swon Brothers reach back deep into their Oklahoma roots and relive some fond memories of days gone by on their nostalgic new single, “Southern Gospel.” The track is a love letter of sorts to the small town way of life and the unwavering faith that was so embedded in their daily lives growing up, and they pay tribute to the things they hold dear in the new tune, recalling balmy nights playing hide and seek, Grandma’s glistening mason jars brimming with sweet tea, the church choir singing those old beloved standards, mix tapes full of favorites in the truck, and those common memories we all cherish.

“This is definitely a personal song for us, it’s a story song for us.  We took memories and let them speak for themselves musically. I can see every line painting a picture of life, like Grandma’s tea that was so sweet it would make your teeth hurt and Grandpa preaching while he was holding a ‘Marlboro Red,’” says Colton.

The Swons co-wrote the song with fellow writer Josh Gleave and Zach and Colton produced the track themselves.

The song definitely hits home for the brothers, who began performing in their parent’s Gospel band when they were just small children.

“Josh actually brought the idea to the table during one of our writing sessions, but I think our background in singing Gospel music brought a different perspective.  We definitely relate to that but this song is also about being raised in the South and all of the things that come with that. It’s really very true to the way we live our lives,” says Zach.

“Southern Gospel” is available on all digital and streaming outlets today HERE.
