Boots, cowboy hat, denim on denim, Travis Feutz looks the part, and now he is here to prove he lives it too. The Missouri based country artist is determined to carve out a spot for himself in the country music scene.  Following the momentum of his 2021 release of Country Music Forever, he is now releasing a pair of singles, “Cowboy Songs,” and “George Jones” respectively. With influences like Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings, Travis pays homage to the classic country music that came before him. He doesn’t seek to reinvent the genre, only to build on what the founders started.  Today’s pop country music can be formulaic but instead Travis is letting the story speak for itself.

His latest single, “Cowboy Songs” is a throwback to 90’s Country. Being a 90’s kid the music of the time has helped influence his musical direction. He learned early on that “country music songs tell a complicated story in a simple way and that that’s the beauty of the genre.” “Cowboy Songs” talks of all the major themes of country music: love, heartache, womanizing, drinking, and life on the road. Travis’s take on this is that if you stop living out all the lyrics, life will be less complicated and a lot more fulfilling. But, for so many they can’t stop, and that’s why “Cowboy Songs” will speak volumes.

“George Jones” is the perfect follow-up to “Cowboy Songs,” continuing the story of where Travis found his influence; this song tells a fairy-tale journey between a stranger and George Jones having one hell of a night out on the town. Travis jokes that in a previous life this is a true story, him of course being the stranger. Taking all the cliché elements of a country song, such as drinking, jail, barrooms, name dropping a country legend, and giving it a fresh new spin, you can truly see Travis’s creative mind with this release. This barn burner will make you want to dust off your cowboy boots and hit the dance floor.

Produced by Joshua Ray Walker’s producer, John Pedigo, and recorded at Modern Electric in Dallas, Texas, these two singles are the perfect follow-up from Feutz’s debut EP. “Cowboy Songscame out on January 13th, 2023, and “George Jones” releases February 17th, 2023. These songs are a testament to the foundation Travis is building his career on, and the future looks bright with other projects on the horizon.
