In the midst of surging careers, recording artists Kory Caudill and Blessing Offor have joined forces for a timely, awe-inspiring collaboration. “Cross The River” sheds a powerful light on some of humanity’s most meaningful journeys, taking listeners on a dynamic exploration of individual and societal reflection. “Cross The River” will be available February 24, 2023 as the first single from Ordinary Time Records, a new imprint created in partnership with the Becoming Beloved Community initiative of The Episcopal Church, via ONErpm.

Written during the fall of 2021, the song stems from longtime college friends Caudill and Offor, who reconnected while touring was still at a halt. “We both carved our own paths in the music industry after college,” said Offor. “When the chaos of the last few years forced things to slow down, I started noticing Kory more on social media. He was an outspoken voice of kindness and decency throughout some trying times in society, so it felt good to reach out and reconnect. We met at Ivy Hall studio with no intention of doing anything besides hanging out, but within an hour we’d written ‘Cross The River’.”

Caudill credits the themes of hope and unity in the track to the many conversations shared with friends during times of unrest. “Fall of ‘21 was a time for me to let a lot of friends know that I was listening to them, learning from them, and that I was there for them in any way,” he shared. “In Blessing and my conversation we kept going back to John Lewis and company crossing the Edmund Pettus Bridge, and how that bridge still needs to be crossed in some ways. We talked about personal bridges we all have to cross as well, and music allowed us to communicate those themes in a way that resonated beyond conversation.”

Both Blessing and Kory studied commercial music at Belmont University and are widely known for their virtuosity at the piano and their uncanny ability to use harmony in ways that emphasize a song’s meaning. With Caudill and his father Keith producing the track, as well as playing multiple instruments, Offor delivers a stunning vocal performance reminiscent of several R&B greats. “There’s an urgency to the times we’re in now, and we all feel a need to find peace. For those reasons, we were more ambitious with this track than usual…we went for things and searched for moments that we don’t often get to create in the studio.” said Kory.

Both artists are celebrating recent success, with Caudill launching his second headlining leg of the award-winning Concert for the Human Family tour, and Offor celebrating a record-breaking release under Bowyer & Bow/Capitol UMG.
